My Failed Attempt at Growing Red Onions and Ginger

Happy Monday Hivers!
I’ve seen a Facebook vlogger growing her own onions, ginger, and other vegetables. She doesn't always have to buy these things from the market because whenever she needs something in the kitchen, she can simply go to her garden and harvest what she needs.
That is actually one of the lives I dream of having someday, a life where most of the things we need in the kitchen can be found right in our own garden. There’s something really fulfilling about being able to grow your own food and simply walk outside to harvest fresh ingredients whenever you need them.
We’re not there yet, though. We’ve already started our own garden, but we still can’t grow everything we need. We’re still learning, learning how to properly plant different crops, how to take care of them, what growing methods work best, what kind of soil is suitable for each plant, and so many other things. There is still a lot for us to learn, and honestly, we have a long way to go.
One of my first attempts was growing red onions. I planted them in a pot, and at first, I was really happy because they started to sprout. Little by little, the leaves came out and grew taller. I thought I was doing a good job, but unfortunately, after a few days, the plant suddenly died.
When I checked it, I noticed that the part underneath had already become soft and wilted. I had placed the pot where it could get enough sunlight, and I also wasn’t watering it every day, so I honestly didn’t know what went wrong. Since it was my first attempt and it failed, I decided not to plant onions again for the meantime. I still need to watch more tutorials and learn the proper way to plant and maintain them until I become more confident and hopefully successful.
Another plant I tried growing was ginger. Actually, my mom has already grown ginger successfully, so I thought I would try growing some myself. I prepared the ginger and planted it, hoping that I could grow my own supply too. Unfortunately, my attempt didn’t go well either, and the ginger eventually died.
I guess this is really part of learning how to garden. Not everything we plant will survive, and not every attempt will be successful. Sometimes, we have to experience failure first before we understand what we’re doing wrong.
But I’m happy that we’ve already started. Maybe someday, our garden will be able to provide most of the things we need in our kitchen.
For now, we’re learning, experimenting, and slowly building the garden life we’ve always dreamed of.
And who knows? Maybe the onions and ginger that refuse to grow today will someday become the plants I’m most proud of.
Thank you for reading and see you on my next blog. Cheers!
