Hello everyone, how are you doing today? Hope you are having a great time. This will be Week 230 Edition 01 of our Weekly Featured Content.

So, last Saturday we had our hangout as usual, and it was just so much fun that we did not want it to end. We are currently on the first topic for this week, which is “WORK FROM HOME”.
But before we proceed with the details of the topic, let us take a look at the winners of the last topic, which was “VOTING BY FORCE”.
This topic was geared toward each member of the community, telling us their thoughts on the idea of each member voting compulsorily instead of by choice. And how such a move might affect society and democracy at large. Such a move will have a great impact on the political structure of the country, and so many things will be changed as a result.
We got to see that for many people, it was seen as a bad idea, because it could only set a bad precedent. Such things will get worse because it’s only a stone's throw from actually criminalizing people with different political opinions. It was an enlightening topic, indeed.

Here the author, from the experience of Brazil's compulsory voting system, believes that forcing citizens to vote by law is harmful to democracy. Due to compulsion, uninformed or unwilling voters are persuaded and choose the wrong candidate without understanding, which essentially creates incompetent leadership. According to him, choosing representatives is a very important task, so it should be left to people's own free will without any pressure. Therefore, rather than forcing them to vote, making every citizen aware of the real importance and responsibility of their vote is the right way to build a successful democracy.

The author believes that although participation in elections is very important, it is inappropriate to make voting mandatory by law or punish those who do not vote.Even if compulsory voting rules increase attendance, people will vote reluctantly or without understanding for fear of punishment, which does not serve the purpose of true democracy. Punishing someone who does not vote due to distrust in the electoral system, illness, or security is against personal freedom. Therefore, instead of coercion, the government should encourage citizens to vote spontaneously by making the electoral process free, fair, and credible.
