A charity coffee for local residents

Greetings to the Hive family, but a special, warm greeting goes out to this lovely community of coffee lovers. Offering a good cup of hot coffee, as well as being delicious, feels like a hug for the soul—at least that’s how I experience it. That’s why my fellow church members and I decided to organise a charity coffee event with the slogan: ‘Love in Action’. It was wonderful to share this with our neighbours in the community.
Many neighbours came to the church to spend a little time with us. As well as offering them a delicious cup of coffee, we held a free fair where we were able to donate food, clothes and shoes to people in our neighbourhood. We also gave them Christian magazines, which the children especially loved because they come with crosswords.
It was lovely to be able to brighten our neighbours’ day amidst the very difficult situation the country is currently facing. We had the privilege of showing God’s love in action to those around us and demonstrating that, even though we are facing difficult times, He does not forget us. The Bible teaches that it is more blessed to give than to receive, and that is truly how we felt. We were able to be God’s hands, helping and comforting our neighbours; we were able to listen to them and pray for them. More than just a blessing to them, it was an honour for us.
That morning, as a true coffee lover, I took it upon myself to serve the coffee whilst welcoming the neighbours and giving them some magazines. Everyone told me it was delicious and thanked me for it. You see, almost all of us Cubans love having a cup of hot coffee in the morning. That really does brighten up our day.
