When you start out in Splinterlands, you have to decide how to begin, since there are essentially two ways to do so. I’ve already covered this in a couple of posts where I explained how each one works, but for those who haven’t seen them, I’ll give a quick recap—it’s simple. The first option is “Free,” and the second is through “Investment”; there’s no other way to do it. However, within each of these options, you can take different actions depending on various factors. What I mean is that it’s not just a matter of starting for free or with an investment—you also have to choose how to do it and what to do.
This is where “Diversification and Specialization” in Splinterlands comes in—as I already mentioned in the title of this post. By this, I mean that you need to focus on aspects that allow you to manage your resources effectively if, for example, your budget is limited or if you’re an F2P player; in that case, head to Campaign Mode and from there to “Frontier,” These are alternatives or paths, which lead to diversification and, if you will, specialization. So, with that in mind, today’s post follows this path to wrap up the last two posts I wrote on these topics, which I’ll link below so you can stay up to date.

Once you know what your starting strategy is for the game, it’s time to make a crucial decision—for example, if you have a limited budget and want to start by investing. You can’t focus on all the “Splinters” because that would be misusing your capital and it wouldn’t perform as it should. In fact, if you want to build a competitive deck, it would be a waste—you wouldn’t have consistency, and this wouldn’t really be diversification or specialization either.
Think of it this way: you have $200 to invest. This is a limited budget, and you want to buy cards from the “Beta,” “Chaos Legion,” and “Escalation��� sets. If that’s your decision, there’s no better recipe for disaster than this, since you’re not sticking to the formats. Yes, you’re diversifying, but in the wrong way—because the sets you’re choosing have no synergy, and this is where players go wrong. Then they complain that the game doesn’t offer good rewards, but they’re basing that on this kind of behavior without realizing they’re doing it wrong.

The Best Diversification Strategy (Investment Mode)

> Specialization: As I mentioned earlier, the worst recipe for disaster is focusing on sets of cards that can’t work together optimally on the battlefield—since while they can work together, they don’t do so in an environment that offers the best chances of earning rewards. That’s why it’s best to focus on something that has synergy. For example, focus on the “Modern” format editions (Arcane Conclave and Escalation), and start by building two Splinterlands decks. Focus on those, improve them, but keep playing with them until you can gradually start putting together the others. > > Diversification: Once you’re familiar with the cards, you shouldn’t concentrate your earnings on just those cards, since Splinterlands is a complete ecosystem where you can explore what else it has to offer. This is where you can start diversifying, and some of the best options are “Land Plots” (Lands) or SPS Validator Nodes, for example. One requires effort, understanding, and proper management, while the other operates in a much more passive way but still yields results and a steady cash flow—though you’ll need to do some “marketing,” so to speak.

F2P players have slightly fewer options available to them when starting out; however, even so, they can still specialize and diversify—either the right way or the wrong way—because players who typically start without putting some of their own blood (money) on the line tend to be a bit more distracted, which is why the vast majority don’t stand out. So, if I were to start, I would always start by investing—this forces them to take things a little more seriously.
However, this doesn’t mean that F2P players can’t succeed—on the contrary, they can—but they need to put in twice or three times the effort of a conventional player who starts with a moderate investment. Their strategy differs from that of the “Investor,” mainly because the goal is to maximize profits as quickly as possible, which requires them to play every day and experiment with what they enjoy most.
But don't worry—in this post, I'll take the opportunity to guide you through the concepts of specialization and diversification, all with the goal of helping you stay focused and achieve your objectives in the medium and long term, because in the short term, it's not at all realistic—not even for investors who are just starting out.
Specialization and Diversification
> Specialization: You really have a lot of options here, but I recommend starting with “Campaign Mode” and focusing initially on the “Frontier Format.” This is the perfect place to gain gameplay experience, which is necessary to move on to “Modern.” It’s the best possible route if you want to get off to a good start and build a deck that will help you as you progress through the game—which won’t be easy. > > Diversification: Along the way, you’ll likely meet certain requirements that allow you to move on to “Modern Format” without having to buy the “Book of Spells,” so in that sense, you’ll have one less expense; however, the important thing here is that with the rewards you earn in “Frontier”—which are modest—you’ll be able to gradually acquire cards from “Arcane Conclave” and “Escalation.” By doing so, you’ll slowly build and diversify these sets, allowing you to compete at a whole new level.

While the path for F2P players is more complicated, in a way they have greater freedom to explore, try different paths, and decide which one to stick with. That path should help you progress in the game as time goes on, so nothing is a waste—even if you want to start from the very bottom.

Cuando comienzas en Splinterlands tienes que decidir como iniciar, ya que existen relativamente 2 formas de hacerlo y esto ya lo explique en una par de publicaciones en la que explique cómo funcionaban cada una de ellas, pero para el que no recurso lo refresco de forma muy rápida, ya que es fácil, siendo la primera de ellas de forma “Gratuita” y la segunda por medio de la “Inversión”, no hay otra forma de hacerlo, sin embargo, dentro de cada una de ellas podemos tomar una u otra acción dependiendo de varios factores, a lo que me refiero es que, no solo se trata con iniciar gratuitamente y con inversión, sino que tienes que elegir como hacerlo y que hacer.
Aquí es donde entra la “Diversificación y la Especialización” en Splinterlands, que ya lo mencioné en el título de este post, con esto me refiero a que necesitas enfocarte en aspectos que te permitan administrarte de forma correcta si por ejemplo tu presupuesto es limitado o si en su defecto eres un jugador F2P, dirigirte al modo campaña y de allí a “Frontier”, estas son alternativas o caminos, lo que induce a la diversificación y si se quiere a una especialización. Entonces, sabiendo esto, el post de hoy va dirigido por este camino, para terminade completar las ultimas 2 publicaciones que hice sobre estos temas, las cuales se las dejare a continuación para que estén al día.

Una vez sabes cuál es tu postura con la que quieres comenzar en el juego, es el momento de tomar una decisión crucial, por ejemplo, si tú tienes un prepuesto limitado y quieres iniciar con inversión. No puedes enfocarte en todos los “Splinters” porque estaría aprovechando de una manera incorrecta tu capital y no rendirá como debería, de hecho, si quieres armar un mazo competitivo sería un desperdicio, no tendrías consistencia, y esto no sería realmente diversificación, ni tampoco especialización.
Piénsalo de esta manera, tienes $200 para invertir, este es un presupuesto limitado y quieres comprar cartas de la edición “Beta, Chaos Legion y Escalation”, si esta es tu decisión, no hay mejor receta para el desastre que este, ya que no estas respetando los formatos, estas diversificando si, pero de una forma incorrecta porque las ediciones que estas eligiendo no tienen ninguna sinergia, y es aquí donde los jugadores se equivocan, luego comentan que el juego no da buenas recompensas, pero, se basan en este tipo de acciones sin pensar en que lo están haciendo mal.
