What is the new “Trading Hall,” and why could it be the next big thing in Splinterlands? [ES-EN]

We have some new features in Splinterlands, and in this weekend post, I’d like to explain the latest addition Splinterlands has introduced to the game: the “Trading Hall,” a new trading module that promises to change the way players can trade transferable “Items” within the game. It’s a pretty simple system to understand—there’s nothing complicated about it—but I’ll explain everything so that newcomers or those who’ve been distracted have all the information. So, if you’ve been living under a rock and haven’t caught up on all the new features the game has to offer, I’ll be posting updates like this much more frequently.

To build a little anticipation, the “Trading Hall” is a section within the “Items” menu where you can make these trades—also known as “Offers.” This means you no longer need to post outside the game about what you want or how you want it. While that approach has its merits, I’m referring to the fact that you’ll be able to conduct these negotiations seamlessly right within the game, so this will all be interesting to watch, because the team continues to work on bringing great and useful features to the game’s official interface.

So, if you want to know how it works and all the details, you'll have to read this post all the way through, because after reading it, you might want to make your first offers.

What is the Trading Hall, and what does it actually add to the game?

Before we get into how it works, we need to know exactly what the system is, what problem it solves, and why I think it’s good—although I might personally add a few things, but that’s a different topic. What I mean is that we should start by addressing what it is and what problem it solves, and from there, look at how it works step by step in a very simple way.

So, now that we've cleared that up, what is the Trading Hall?

The Trading Hall is simply a new module or system that allows users to exchange items or assets within the game’s ecosystem in a quick and easy way. So far, so good, but what kinds of issues were players facing, and how does this new system called “Trading Hall” add value to player-to-player exchanges? Well, that’s what I’ll address based on my own observations in the game regarding this matter.

What is the current problem?

---

The only way users can trade items or any type of asset is through the open market, which greatly limits players’ ability to make individual deals with other users. When you list something, hundreds or thousands of players see the asset’s price on the market, and if they find it attractive, they buy it—only to resell it later at a higher price and make a profit. at least that’s how it usually worked, since some sell without that intention—simply to obtain liquidity.

The process, while simple and something I like—because that’s how a market works—actually places significant limits on what players could do by trading with each other individually. And this is exactly where the “Trading Hall” comes in, since it functions as a kind of in-game “escrow” system: when a “Trade Offer” is created, the assets are locked up pending approval or rejection by the recipient—who, of course, will then send another asset in return. So, everything happens automatically and without any risk to either party; the only thing needed is the willingness to make the transaction.

Guide to Using and/or Trading on “Trading Hall”

Now we're getting to the interesting part of this post. Although how it works is no mystery, the truth is that it's extremely easy to use—it's really intuitive. Players of any skill level can try it out right away if they want to. To do so, just follow these steps:

---

Steps for Using “Trading Hall” Correctly

---

Step 1: Enable Offers in our account

The first thing you need to do before anything else—and to make this work—is to enable offers in your account. To do this, simply go to “Items” and then click on “Trade Offers.” From there, just click the toggle switch I’ve pointed out in the image, and that’s it—you’ll be able to send and receive offers.

---

Step 2: Create Offers

---

The first thing to keep in mind is that you need 10 DEC or 10 Credits to create an offer. If the system detects that you have the necessary tokens, the option will be enabled. As you can see in the first image, when you select “Credits,” it is enabled. Next, select the “Recipient,” which is simply another player’s username. For this test, I’ve entered “Cieliss,” who is my wife.

Sending an “Offer” is quite simple, since you have filters for the “Items or Assets” you want to trade. For example, I chose “cards,” which is the easiest option; just pick one—I chose the first one that came up, “Divine Healer,” in the “You Send” section. Then I moved to “You Receive” and selected the “Blackmoor Trickster” card in exchange; just click “Add” for each option.

Finally, when you click “Review Trade Offer,” the last screen will appear where you’ll confirm the “Offer” to send it to the user you’ve chosen, and the 10 Credits or DECs I mentioned earlier will be deducted from your balance. After that, the user will receive the offer and will have to decide whether to accept it—if it aligns with their interests—or reject it if they believe it won’t benefit them.

Final Thoughts

With this, we can now see exactly how the new “Trading Hall” works. It really makes it easier for users to trade with each other without having to go directly through the open market—which is also very necessary—but when we don’t really want to trade or sell something on the market because it can take a long time, the best way to do it is through this new system.

If you have any questions, don’t forget to leave a comment, but I hope the functionality of this new tool is now very clear.

See you on the "Battlefield"
