Next Floor, a short film by Denis Villeneuve Based on an original idea by Phoebe Greenberg During an opulent and luxurious banquet, complete with cavalier servers and valets, eleven pampered guests participate in what appears to be a ritualistic gastronomic carnage. In this absurd and grotesque universe, an unexpected sequence of events undermines the endless symphony of abundance.

William Burroughs’s opening remark is absolutely spot on: Artists are there to observe the world and show it to the viewer in a form that breaks the manipulation with the viewer’s perception. Politicians are there only to secure the existing successes in manipulating the viewer’s perception by threatening legal penalties. Villeneuve and Greenberg showed 18 years ago the harsh truth hidden from our perception – the gap between rich and poor is at its highest level in the history of mankind. And they showed this harsh truth in a cruel way: through a destructive orgy of gluttony that does not prevent insatiable psychopaths from continuing their grotesque banquet even though everything around them is collapsing…

Политичари су ту само како би претњом законским казнама накнадно фиксирали постојеће успехе у манипулацији гледаочевом перцепцијом. Вилнев и Гринберг показали су још пре 18 година сурову истину сакривену пред нашом перцепцијом – јаз између богатих и сиромашних на највишем је нивоу у историји човечанства. И они су ту сурову истину показали на суров начин: кроз уништавајућу оргију ждрања која не спречава незасите психопате да наставе свој гротескни банкет макар се све око њих срушило…
