¡Hola, familias!

Hello families! I've been a little absent for a few days because a bad case of the flu forced me to take a necessary break to take care of myself, but today I've returned with a heart full of excitement to tell you a very personal story about teaching practice.

English Version I recently shared on some of my social media accounts the launch of my free guide, "Calm Brains," a resource lovingly designed for early childhood education. Many of you see the final file ready for download or the explanatory videos on social media, but today I want to open the doors to the classroom and the mind of a teacher to tell you the real reason behind this project. The idea for this material came from my direct, day-to-day experience in preschool. Every year, teachers and parents face the challenge of school adjustment, and I often witnessed the pain and tears of children at the classroom door. The traditional approach almost always focuses on getting the child to stop crying out of obligation or habit, but we rarely stop to think about what is really happening in their little minds at that crucial moment.

English Version Seeing this need in families deeply moved me and motivated me to seek an answer that went beyond traditional methods. The moment of clarity came thanks to my university studies and my profound passion for neuroplasticity research. By delving into how the child's brain develops in the early years, I understood that early childhood education must be transformed through science and empathy. One scientific fact that I always like to share with parents, and which inspired much of this guide, is that a child's brain from zero to six years old is purely sensory. In fact, smell is the only sense directly connected to the limbic system, the area responsible for emotions and memory. This means that a young child won't remember the blackboard or homework, but will never forget whether their classroom and teacher smelled dangerous or safe. When we create an environment that smells and feels calm, the child's brain opens up to learning instead of closing in due to fear.

English Version

Bringing "Calm Brains" to life was no easy task, but rather a beautiful, painstaking process that I designed page by page. It was a process of perseverance in which I had to steal hours from the clock and write at night, right in the middle of very intense weeks where I was juggling caring for my preschool children, grading and delivering report cards to my 37 second-grade students, attending meetings about the water emergency in our beloved Cumaná, and fulfilling my own academic responsibilities. Behind each page lies an enormous effort, but I did it with the firm conviction that our communities need real, scientifically sound pedagogical tools adapted to our context. Today I feel incredibly proud to see this dream materialized and at the service of so many families seeking more respectful and conscious parenting. My greatest wish is that this resource will be a guiding light on the path to transforming the return to school into a happy experience, where love and neuroscience always go hand in hand. If you haven't had the chance to read it yet, I warmly invite you to download the guide completely free of charge by clicking on the link I'm sharing below, and don't hesitate to leave me your comments to let me know how it has helped you at home or in the classroom.
