>![ English] > >“Death is not our greatest fear; our greatest fear is taking the risk of living, taking the risk of being alive and expressing who we truly are.” (Dr. Miguel Ruiz, Los Cuatro Acuerdos) I’m floating through this community, bringing you a message of love and joy; let’s raise a toast and enjoy life. I hope that every step you take brings you closer to fulfilling your dreams and goals. We all deserve to be happy and, above all, to have the health to continue on life’s journey. A big hug.

>![ English] > > Human beings are unique and one-of-a-kind, and we behave and live accordingly. Even when people are given advice, recommendations, and told what’s best, most of the time they don’t pay attention. As they say, it goes in one ear and out the other. Likewise, they have blinders on. This is something intrinsic to them. If a person doesn’t want to change, they won’t—not even if they listen to famous gurus, read thousands of self-help books, recite mantras, light candles, or attend workshops with a coach. If something inside them doesn’t budge—not even if you try to move it with a winch—this is called intrinsic motivation. Messages must be fed to them drop by drop, so they learn little by little, every day, and without rushing. By creating habits—because even if you want to, the mental programming doesn’t erase itself overnight. Once the mind is loaded with information—words, taboos, paradigms—it’s very difficult to erase that information through brute force or shock therapy. What is certain is that life is a constant learning process, and as my father used to say: “You have to learn how to live because everyone knows how to die.” However, there are many ways to modify the information programmed into our minds, and one of them is reading—especially self-help books that help us try to change habits and eliminate those that are already ingrained. Perhaps some people will achieve this change, but change requires discipline, perseverance, and responsibility. Yes, and change only happens if the person truly wants to change from within. It’s a matter of learning every day, step by step, that changes can be achieved gradually, and this, in the end, will change one’s attitude and behavior. It’s not a matter of following trends or doing things just because others do them—to imitate them. Nor is it about comparing oneself to others. It is simply learning that leads to a change in habits. Take alcoholism, for example: if a person does not accept or acknowledge their reality, they will not actively participate in the process—and, of course, they will not stop drinking. The same is true for other addictions. Diets, too, require a change in mindset and intrinsic motivation. Before delving into the book to share my opinion on the subject, it’s important to highlight some key points that raise questions about the definition of “self-help.” The website www.psychologytoday.com defines the term as: >“It refers to actions and interventions that a person can perform on their own or with the help of educational materials, as opposed to assistance from a clinical professional…” For more information, visit here If that’s the case, why does it work for some people and not for others? I believe—and this is what I want to explain—that simply reading a self-help book isn’t going to bring about change. First, there must be internal or intrinsic motivation. Second, you have to build habits, and third, you have to work on improving yourself so that the logical “if-then” connection is fulfilled. I’ve read many self-help books; I can’t even remember how many. Afterward, I put them on the bookshelf, where they sit gathering dust. Just like me, many people do the same. On the other hand, Dr. Miguel Ruiz’s book The Four Agreements, published in 1997, is, in my view, very good, and it’s easy to follow the four agreements if we want to change and have a better life. However, I ask out of curiosity: If not all the agreements are followed, is there a problem, or can we still bring about change and be happy? The essence of the book is supposed to be that people should be happy, because—even though some may not believe it—the mission of human beings is to be happy. And to achieve this, you have to change your way of thinking and, as he says, discard the old dreams that society calls paradigms, stereotypes, and taboos—all designed to instill fear of facing life, prevent the search for truth, and keep people from being happy. Ultimately, life is a constant learning process aimed at improving every day, becoming better people, getting to know ourselves, and becoming more spiritual—through which we will achieve balance, well-being, and happiness. I’ll leave you with that!

>![ English] > >Domestication Before discussing the Four Agreements, I’d like to mention a phrase from the author that resonated with me and caught my attention. I fully agree with his ideas and what he’s saying: from the moment we’re born, our parents, family, teachers, society, the media, and social media are responsible for programming our minds, and in this way, human beings are trained. The goal is to keep us from straying from the path and to ensure we do what they want. If anyone dares to ask a question or express an opinion outside the established script—to question or ask “Why?”—they are ostracized like black sheep so they won’t taint the flock, and they’re labeled as crazy. No one offers an explanation; it is the way it is, period. Through this, they gradually guide children and adolescents to integrate into society. Their sole mission is for them to conform to the prescribed blueprint: to grow up, graduate, marry, and procreate to perpetuate the species responsible for the planet’s labor. Nowhere is there any mention of happiness, of living, of mental health, or of creating meaningful moments. There is only suffering, punishment, hell, and many other things. Despite everything, human beings always wonder and question everything around them; it is something innate within them that drives them to seek the truth. Throughout history, men and women with a different way of thinking have walked the earth, inspiring the masses and bringing about a shift in consciousness. Suddenly, they disappear, leaving a void that history itself cannot explain. But they have planted a seed of doubt, which has sparked a paradigm shift in many people and changed the way they act in society. Some people will say: “But society and its rules must exist—otherwise, everything would be chaos.” The idea isn’t to cause chaos, since society does need to exist, but without so many rigid paradigms so that we can set aside false beliefs, as the author of the book The Four Agreements says. At this point in my life, I no longer expect anything from anyone, and I watch the bulls from behind the barrier. That’s how I’m happy in my own way. I believe that the only thing that matters is to believe, affirm, and never forget that we are our own priority. Above all, we must be willing to turn our lives around. According to Miguel Ruiz’s approach, the Toltec wisdom on which his book The Four Agreements is based: >“It is not a religion; it respects the spiritual teachers who have taught on Earth, and while it encompasses the spirit, it is more accurately described as a way of life distinguished by its easy access to happiness and love:..” For more information, visit here Putting Dr. Miguel Ruiz’s “The Four Agreements” into practice isn’t difficult; it just requires dedication, learning, and changing habits that are harmful to us. However, once you achieve this, you’ll be free, start to see life in a different light, and be happy. In my opinion, step by step, learning day by day, we can put them into practice and improve our lives. Above all, to be happy, we must let go of our anxieties and fears. I’ll leave it at that!

>![ English] > >The Agreements From my point of view, learning and anything that requires a change in lifestyle and perspective is directly linked to intrinsic motivation, because if individuals do not feel or desire within themselves to do something or change for the better, it is impossible—or nearly impossible—for anything external to motivate them to take action. And the definition of “self-help” makes this clear: the person takes charge of themselves—that is, they do their part and seek help. It’s that simple. Understanding that it is individuals who must be motivated—and assuming everyone has already read the book—let’s talk a little about The Four Agreements by Dr. Miguel Ruiz. According to this author, the lives of the Toltecs were guided by these principles, and they were very happy. It’s worth noting that these four agreements must prevail in human life because they are necessary; and if anyone doesn’t see it that way, it’s no wonder the world is upside down and everyone is on their own. Dr. Miguel Ruiz proposes four agreements and reminds us that they are very important. As for the first agreement, “Be impeccable with your words,” more than one person needs to have a muzzle put on them because they talk a mile a minute, saying whatever comes to mind—whether they should or not. This is the most important agreement, because some people speak without restraint and don’t think about what they’re saying. They don’t understand that words aren’t carried away by the wind; on the contrary, they pierce others like daggers. Words are capable of penetrating the mind and can also fly out into the universe like decrees. For this reason, we must think before we speak—and above all, remain silent during an argument. After all, a single ill-chosen word can completely change a person’s destiny. “Don’t take anything personally.” I shouldn’t generalize here, so I’ll say this: most people on the planet take everything personally. Perhaps there are a few who don’t, but they must be a tiny minority. We go through life taking everything personally—for example, if someone walks by and doesn’t notice you, it bothers you; and if they do notice you, then they either gave you a dirty look or rolled their eyes. The second agreement is directly related to the Machiavellian mind: “Don’t make assumptions.” We live in a world where the mind is an expert at creating hypothetical horror scenarios, all with the worst of intentions. For me, the mind is in charge of stirring up trouble, and by now, human beings should have learned to block it out. There’s a lot to discuss about this agreement, friends of #Hive. The last principle, “Always do your best,” is part of everyday life, because everything in life should be done well, with quality, and to the best of our ability—including the way we act. After all, it’s the only way to achieve what we want. From my perspective, if something is going to be done just for the sake of doing it, it’s better to leave it alone, because it’s a waste of time. Friends of #EmpowerTalent, life is a school where we learn and unlearn. Step by step, human beings accumulate memories. It’s our parents, our teachers, and society. From childhood, we’re indoctrinated; we’re told what’s good and what’s bad. It suits someone for us to follow like a herd; honestly, I don’t know who, and I’m not even interested in finding out. However, I try as much as possible to think for myself and form my own opinions. Above all, I try not to let myself be influenced and to live my life with a smile and positive energy. I don’t have enough words to express my gratitude for everything I have and for being who I am. Most of the time, I’m a curious person who likes to get to the bottom of things—or ask why things happen the way they do. I channel my energy and push myself to achieve my dreams—not dormant, imposed dreams, but those that have led me to achieve my objectives and goals. The essence of the book is to help us discover ourselves, motivate ourselves, and—from there—change the way we act and behave in society through four agreements, which, if turned into habits, can change the course of our lives. Ultimately, I must add that I believe the most important thing is to learn to love ourselves and discover what we’re capable of doing. This is achieved “if, and only if,” we’re able to motivate ourselves. There you have it!
