> This September, dedicated to suicide prevention, I had the idea of writing something for days, and I wanted to reflect on my own experience with anxiety.
> A couple of years ago, that situation knocked on my door right after Covid, and what seemed like a panic problem, which would go away in a few days, started to go on for weeks, months and I dare say it reached a year, where the storm continued without any possibility of calming it, and I know that today it still visits me, but I have learned to face it with tools that help me to let it flow.
> For me, it's important to talk about my personal experience because, in a way, talking about it makes it hurt less. Talking about and acknowledging our struggles opens the door to understanding and mutual support. And it's equally important for me to recognize that prevention begins with dialogue, and to remember that we're not alone in this fight, that there is hope and light at the end of the tunnel, and that just as many have overcome it, we can too.
> These last few days, in my city, a girl decided to leave this world because of depression, which led me to countless questions that, for my mental health, are better left unanswered so as not to become a vicious cycle of thoughts that could trigger my anxiety.
> No one can truly know what's going on in another person's mind, even if they're very close. At that time, I remember that my brother was one of the people who listened to me the most and understood my process without judgment. Others, like my boyfriend and my mother, were also a source of support, something I'll never tire of being grateful for. However, there are people who aren't as fortunate as I was to have access to resources, therapy, or a support group to turn to in their most vulnerable moments.
> I always reflect on the importance of seeking help without fear; fear of what others will say, of being seen as crazy, of sharing your problems with someone else, of letting go of the fear of being judged, among many other things. Active listening and empathy are fundamental to preventing the suffering of others.
> Being able to say the word "suicide" without fear has been a long process for me. For a long time, that word caused a block; it was as if uttering it could give life to the worst thoughts. However, with time and years of therapy, I learned to face it differently.
> Anxiety has a constant voice that repeats, "What if this happens? What if that happens?" These "what ifs" never end, and it's precisely in these moments that fear becomes overwhelming. Recognizing that talking about suicide isn't feeding it, but rather acknowledging it for what it is, allowed me to process those emotions instead of avoiding them.
> The path isn't easy, and for an anxious person it never will be; it's a rollercoaster where some days you're up and other days you're down. But opening myself up to that word, and the thoughts it generated, and a few other words as well, was a fundamental step for my healing and inner strengthening.
Feliz noche. > I'll write another post about this topic at some point; I really enjoy sharing my personal experience and, in some way, helping or inspiring others. Good night.
