Algo que me propuse hacer este año fue frecuentar los sitios en donde quiero estar, y uno de esos espacios es la universidad, pues más allá de ser estudiante, quiero volver al rol de docente que ejercí por muchos años, además, en estos espacios, la vibración suele ser distinta: joven, esperanzadora y sobre todo, alegre.
De las que se encuentran cerca de casa, la Universidad de Lanús es la que me queda más accesible, pues para las demás debo tomar doble transporte y con mis horarios tan reducidos, debo ajustarme un poco a todo el movimiento, sin dejar de lado mis metas.

Este recinto educativo es para mi, como un viaje al pasado, cuando cursaba mi carrera en la UCAB, pues sus amplios jardines me recuerdan de esos tiempos muertos que compartía con mis compañeras de clases, así que perderme caminando en este lugar es una inyección no solo de nostalgia, sino también de reconocer que mi afición por el conocimiento no es algo que solo me pasa a mi, como muchos quisieron hacerme ver en el pasado.

Como iba con suficiente tiempo, pues no debía trabajar en la tarde y mi hijo mayor buscaría a su hermano en la escuela, me permití recorrerla casi por completo, descubriendo tesoros que hicieron que me enamorara aún más de este lugar: una estación de radio, aislada de los salones y el ruido propio de alumnos conversando en los pasillos, ideal para que practiquen y se formen enfrentando directamente el miedo que da estar "al aire"

Un inmenso edificio que dice Cine, me llevó casi sin tener que ver a los lados directo a explorarlo, y aunque estaba vacío y no pude entrar, el solo hecho de existir, llenó mis expectativas sobre todo lo que se puede lograr enseñar sobre este arte, sin necesidad de poner a los estudiantes a imaginar o investigar, ya que colocarlos frente a la realidad de hacer cine, es la mejor manera de que aprendan y desarrollen su creatividad en este género.

En algún punto de los jardines, se encuentra el paseo de la Unidad Latinoamericana, en donde se pueden ver banderas de los países hermanos ondeando en hileras de astas que abren el camino a cualquier extranjero que quiera hacer vida en este país.

Fuentes con mosaicos, jardines amplios, bosquecillos que tienen sus encantos y una amplia oferta de carreras de pre y post grado que me resultan tan atractivas como si fuera una adolescente que recién va a empezar la vida universitaria.

One thing I set out to do this year was to spend more time in the places where I want to be, and one of those places is the university. Beyond being a student, I want to return to the role of teacher that I held for many years. Besides, the atmosphere in these places is usually different: youthful, hopeful, and above all, joyful.
Of the universities near my home, the University of Lanús is the most accessible to me; for the others, I have to take two different modes of transportation, and with my limited schedule, I have to adjust a bit to the whole routine without neglecting my goals.

For me, this campus is like a trip down memory lane, back to when I was studying at UCAB, since its spacious gardens remind me of those idle moments I shared with my classmates. So, getting lost while walking around here is not only a burst of nostalgia but also a reminder that my love of learning isn’t something unique to me—as many tried to make me believe in the past.

Since I had plenty of time—I didn’t have to work that afternoon, and my oldest son was going to pick up his brother from school—I allowed myself to explore almost the entire campus, discovering treasures that made me fall even more in love with this place: a radio station, set apart from the classrooms and the usual noise of students chatting in the hallways, ideal for them to practice and develop their skills by directly facing the fear of being “on the air.”

A massive building with the word “Cinema” on it drew me in—almost without me even looking to the sides—and led me straight to explore it. Although it was empty and I couldn’t go inside, the mere fact that it existed fulfilled my expectations about everything that can be taught about this art form—without needing to have students imagine or research on their own, since placing them face-to-face with the reality of filmmaking is the best way for them to learn and develop their creativity in this genre.

Somewhere in the gardens lies the Latin American Unity Walk, where you can see the flags of our sister nations fluttering on rows of flagpoles that welcome any foreigner who wishes to make a life in this country.

Mosaic-adorned fountains, expansive gardens, charming little groves, and a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs—all of which appeal to me just as much as they would to a teenager about to begin her college life.
