Free To Be — A song about freedom, acceptance and being yourself

A song I wrote as my small contribution to acceptance, empathy and the right to love freely.
Hello Hive!
For my second post here, I wanted to share one of my latest songs: "Free To Be".
I wrote and composed this song about a year ago, and it is probably one of the tracks that has touched me the most during the creative process.
Musically, it's somewhere between pop rock and the sound of the 80s and 90s. But the music is only one part of what this song means to me.
"Free To Be" is my small contribution to supporting the LGBTQ+ community.
I am heterosexual, and I don't pretend to know what it is like to live as an LGBTQ+ person. But I have often been deeply touched by the fact that so many people still have to face rejection, misunderstanding, discrimination, or simply the feeling that they cannot freely be who they are.
I wanted to contribute in my own small way.
Not by trying to speak for anyone.
Not by pretending to understand an experience that isn't mine.
But simply by saying:
Everyone is unique. Everyone deserves respect. And everyone should be free to love the person they choose.
When I wrote this song, I wanted the listener to feel at least a little of the sadness and pain that can come from being rejected or misunderstood.
Not necessarily to "put themselves in someone else's shoes" — because I don't think we can truly experience someone else's life that way — but perhaps to feel empathy.
And maybe, after listening, to look at someone different from themselves with a little more understanding.
I produced the entire track myself in Cubase 15 Elements.
I used quite a lot of virtual instruments and synthesizers, including:
SynthMaster 1, 2 and 3 Synth1 HALion Sonic 7 Sparkle 2 by UJAM Carbon by UJAM Krimh Drums Free Edition for Kontakt Player Siena Acoustic Bass by Sound Magic
For the lead vocal, I used Natalie from Dreamtonics / Synthesizer V.
This is something I really enjoy about making music today: I can create an entire musical world on my own, from the first idea to the final mix, while experimenting with virtual instruments and synthetic vocals.
But despite all the technology involved, the most important part of this song was still the emotion I wanted to convey.
