Hello dear Holos Lotus community,

There is a moment at the end of every workday that I enjoy more than I used to.

It is not when I leave the hotel.

It is the moment when I finally sit down and take off my work shoes.

After spending so many hours standing, walking between tables, serving coffee, carrying dishes and attending to guests, that simple action feels almost like a small celebration.

My feet are tired.

Sometimes my legs are tired too.

And there are days when my whole body seems to be asking for a little more rest.

But lately, when I look at my work shoes before putting them away, I find myself thinking about everything they have accompanied me through.

They have walked across the restaurant floor countless times.

They have been there during quiet mornings and busy services.

They have crossed wet floors, moved quickly when someone needed help and remained standing with me when the work seemed endless.

They are not beautiful shoes.

They are not new.

They are simply my work shoes.

But perhaps that is exactly why they have become meaningful to me.

They remind me of something I sometimes forget: there are many things in life that we only appreciate after realizing how much they have helped us carry.

At 20, I probably would have looked at tired feet and simply thought, "I need to rest."

At 50, I still think that.

But now I also think about everything those tired feet have allowed me to do.

There is a difference.

Getting older has taught me not to confuse exhaustion with failure.

Being tired does not mean that we are weak.

Sometimes it simply means that we have been carrying our responsibilities for a long time.

And I think many women understand this feeling.

We spend years standing for others.

Standing at work.

Standing beside our families.

Standing when someone needs us.

Standing even when we would rather sit down for a while.

We become so accustomed to being strong that sometimes we forget that strength also includes knowing when we need to rest.

I do not want to romanticize tiredness.

There are days when I really wish my shift were shorter. There are mornings when my body reminds me that I am no longer twenty years old.

And that is all right.

I have nothing to prove by pretending otherwise.

What I do feel is a quiet pride when I look back at everything I have been able to sustain.

A job.

Responsibilities.

Difficult days.

Good days.

Changes.

Losses.

Moments when I had to start again.

My shoes know none of those stories.

But they have walked through many of them with me.

That is why, before leaving them ready for the next morning, I sometimes look at them for a few seconds.

Tomorrow they will be waiting for me again.
