It is always a challenge for every farmer who happened to rear animals because the season we have here in Nigeria are very crucial and important such that, when one season leave, it will be very difficult for animals to adjust even in feeding. But if you are a very wise farmer who also love what you do with good mindset you should always learn to feed the type of crop that maybe available during the dry season with your animals during the rainy season. It may be extremely difficult but yes it is very nice practice. This is what I'm doing at the moment and practicing. using different types of chrome to fit the animals which is the grasscutter at this point of the year.
We are still in the rainy season and yet we also have different crop production going on. This also give me the privilege to switch intercropping. What does this mean?it means that the crop that is ready available turning the rain season can also be available during the dry season so I choose to feed the animals during the rain season. So that when it comes to the dry season it will be easier to switch in animal feeding. When it comes to protecting your animals and feeding them it must be done to the best so that your animals will grow more faster than the usual. I took some pictures of the farm when I went there briefly.
It was time for feeding and this was Maize feeding routine with different varieties of Maize specie. Be it the yellow maize or the white Maize, the grasscutter will consume them all.
Like you all know, that this animals love to chew all day. Just like in the case of rabbit so you need to always give them ,the food, grasses to chew on almost throughout the day. Then you enjoy your keeping of animals. Or else they will constantly chew your cage.
No matter the size of the cage or the animals once in a while they will consume the Woody cage. But when you regular feed them with more nutritional grasses. You will enjoy their Growth and development.
I love to show my work practically, and that is why I have a lot of pictures in my article. Please we always explain more in details what is expected to do or what has been done on the farm.
