Crocheting Scrunchies for My Siblings 💕🖤
I decided to make something simple, cute, and useful for my siblings, so I picked up my crochet hook and made these adorable scrunchies using pink and black yarn and a 4.0 mm hook. If you’re a beginner, this is a fun project to start with because it doesn’t require complicated stitches. I started with a regular hair band, which became the base of the scrunchie. I joined my pink yarn around the hair band and chained 3 stitches to get started. Then I inserted my hook into the next stitch, yarned over, and pulled up a loop. I continued working around the hair band, making sure my stitches were close together so the band would be completely covered. When I reached the beginning, I joined the round with a slip stitch. To make a slip stitch, simply insert your hook into the stitch, yarn over, and pull the yarn through both the stitch and the loop already on your hook. For the ruffles, I used three half-double crochets (HDC) in every stitch around. This is what gave the scrunchie its beautiful, full, and fluffy look. The more stitches you put into each stitch, the more ruffled your scrunchie becomes! 🥰 After completing the pink ruffles, I changed to black yarn and worked a round of single crochet stitches around the edge to add contrast and give the scrunchie a neat finish. And that’s it! A simple handmade scrunchie made with love for my siblings. 💕🧶
