Dolly Parton remembered in Chicago

This is the Dolly Parton mural located at 5517 N. Broadway in Chicago’s Edgewater neighborhood. My kids have frequently walked past this neighborhood mural without realizing that this is Dolly in her younger years.

.

The mural is painted on the steel front gate of The Lytle House (an event space and photography studio). It was created in 2019 to celebrate Parton's music career, philanthropy, and advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights.

Directly behind the mural is The Edge on Broadway apartment building, known for its bold blue and yellow facade.

This publicity photo was shot in 1977. Wikipedia

The gathering of flowers, candles, and notes seen at the base is part of a local public memorial following her passing this week
