It's a beautiful Sunday morning and I want to show you how massively our rice plants are progressing. The rewards for our hard labour is gradually showing up and in less than 4months from now we would have enough rice grains in the house for food..
We started transplanting these rice about a months ago and as we are gradually making progress transplanting the fields in bits and portions, the ones we have covers have acclimatize to their new environment in the field and are fast growing. It takes about 2-3weeks for your newly transplanted seedlings to become rooted and start changing. And for growing our rice grains these year we chose to plant only the 3month life span grains.
Due to the poor and every changing weather conditions we have to plant foods that will grow and produce on time. We did away with the 6 and 4month life span rice grains. They take so much time before the produce their foods, you have to plant them early enough and still wait for a very long periods for a very long time before they become ready for consumption.
At this time the rice grains are ready for fertilizer application. Since they spend about 3months in the field for harvest. This is how we often share the activities about their growth. For the first month we plant then in the nursery and allow them to spend about a month and if you are lucky to have a very fertile nursery ground, three weeks is enough for the seedlings to grow to full transplanting levels.
Soon as they are ready we transfer them into the fields and when they have spend additional 3weeks to one month, we engage in manual weeding or make use of herbicides to clear the weeds, then apply fertilizer to them, following that the grains will now continue growing and begin to produce it's food at exactly 3months. This is the stage that our rice fields are now, about to produce their food. We are preparing to clear the fields where there are grasses and then apply fertilizer to aid for better seeds production. While transplanting some, others are ready to produce their foods as the work is being done gradually.
