Because, even if you plan ahead, take all the necessary steps, and have a clear, well-defined idea of what you want to achieve, there’s always something that surprises you—something you don’t expect and that happens suddenly.

For example, shadows—you have a general idea of where your favorite shadows might be, but it’s almost impossible to predict that your subjects will be there at that exact time. So you always have to be on the lookout so you don’t miss the opportunity.
