Seems it’s just about rolling on and on

Honestly, I never thought I’d get to this point. Do you remember? When I bought my mountain bike with my Hive savings and little by little I started joining groups, meeting other people with the same interests, my legs got used to pedalling further and further. And then… I had in mind a lighter bike, and out of the blue one came up for sale — a foreign student returning to his country sold it to me. I ended up with two bikes parked in the garage at home, which also serves as the entrance hall. No, it’s not a strange house, it’s just that it’s half-built.
I sold the mountain bike — in short, I couldn’t keep two, and I was always going to prefer the lighter one. Just by trying it out when I took it to its new home, I felt it was made for me, that we were going to be inseparable and very, very adventurous.
These stats from my cycle computer show just how connected she and I are. Imagine — I’d set myself at least 200 km each month, and just days before August I’ve already smashed my goal. Same thing last month, and it’s been like that for a few months now…
Well yes, the number of cycling activities is on the rise, although overall my moving time is around 25 hours.
I put the idea in my head of doing, now and then —two or three times a week— some deliveries by bike, just to have a bit of cash to buy food and treat myself once a week. For instance, joining those long rides where you end up spending quite a lot, because you need to eat, drink, and take into account other expenses, even if not always for repairs, and so on.
And then, as things usually happen —things I don’t want to over‑explain anymore— someone shows up, a conversation starts, and that door which was closed suddenly opens. That’s how the chance to do bike deliveries came along, and it’s not bad at all. Even though I’m with an agency, it’s pretty flexible because I can choose the delivery I want to take, if I’m quick enough, since the other guys are always on the hunt and the job goes to the first who applies.
So I’ve taken advantage of the ones close to home, at times that suit me after finishing my chores, and I do them when I genuinely feel like it.
Boredom isn’t part of my routine — though I do get worn out. At the moment I’m building up a fund of 10K CUP and around 20 USD. You need cash in both currencies to apply for deliveries: you go to the pick‑up, pay for the product, and at drop‑off you get your money back plus the courier fee.
From each delivery payment I set aside a percentage for this, and I leave something for the cyclist’s fuel costs...

... plus the soaps and detergents she needs because she has to wash her clothes frequently. Haha…
That agency charges 150 CUP per kilometre. But each courier has to pay the agency for managing the delivery options: 15% of every route under 10 km, and 10% if the route is over 10 km.
🤷♀
It doesn’t matter. I’m grateful to have another opportunity at hand — I mean, throughout my whole body, which really shows day by day the benefits this activity brings. What’s important, and I’ve thought about it a lot, is that there’s no need to be anxious. It’s about waiting and following the heart’s lead. The Universe always gives me what I truly need. That’s my philosophy when I decide to go out and make deliveries. The ones meant for me, no one will take away — they fall into place on their own… and that’s how it’s been. I love discovering how, in that state of flow, the best things happen to me. I get tips, one delivery turns into two, and so on.
And what I really need is healthy food, a good place to rest, keeping my surroundings tidy and clean, and (note to myself) not forgetting to get bored now and then so that creativity can bloom… I mean those activities that soothe my soul, like writing and photography.
Life feels almost monastic these days… and with these power cuts… 🙄 Still, anything that helps me grow is welcome. In this post I’ve limited myself to noting down facts, but soon I might dive into the deeper thoughts that all of this has led me to reflect on.
Greetings to everyone and thank you for reading this far. I’m not sure if this is part of my life’s mission, but I do know there are other activities I’ll slowly weave into this journey of rolling and rolling.
