충북 충주 장미산성에서 약 1,600년 전 백제 한성기의 목조 집수시설이 확인됐다. 국립중원문화유산연구소는 9월 1일 발굴 성과를 발표했다. 시설 내부는 한 변이 6.7m인 정사각형이며 깊이는 1.8m로, 현재까지 발견된 같은 시기 백제 목조 집수시설 중 가장 크다. 길이 7m가 넘는 통나무를 아홉 단으로 맞물려 벽을 쌓았으며, 계곡물을 모으고 흐름을 조절하는 데 쓰였다. 이번 발견은 백제의 수자원 관리 기술과 충주 거점 운영을 살펴볼 자료다. 연구소는 자연과학 분석과 성 내부 조사를 이어갈 계획이다.
A 1,600-year-old Baekje wooden reservoir was found at Chungju’s Jangmisanseong Fortress. Announced Sept. 1, it is the largest known from Baekje’s Hanseong era. Measuring 6.7 m across and 1.8 m deep, its nine log layers held and regulated valley water. Further studies will examine the site and its water management.
