Good morning, blog friends—how are you? It’s really hot here again today. I’m posting a bit late because I’ve been busier than usual lately—my husband has been suffering from back pain—but yesterday, just to take my mind off things, I went for a walk in the countryside near my home. I live in the suburbs, but if I walk for about ten minutes behind the house, I reach open countryside. It’s a funny contrast: my street is full of asphalt and a supermarket, yet the roads just a short distance away are lined with fields; walking just a little way makes it feel like you’re in two different worlds. I’m happy about it, though, because I prefer walking in nature to walking in the city. That’s one of the few things I miss about my life in the mountains—I had plenty of woods to walk in there—but unfortunately, I was far away from everything. That’s why, after giving it a lot of thought, my husband and I bought a house in the city; it’s certainly less relaxing and beautiful than living in the mountains, but it’s much more convenient and close to all amenities.

Es un contraste curioso: mi calle está llena de asfalto y hay un supermercado, mientras que los caminos situados a poca distancia están rodeados de campos; basta con caminar un poco para sentir que estás en dos mundos diferentes. Sin embargo, me alegra que sea así, porque prefiero caminar en la naturaleza que en la ciudad. Es una de las pocas cosas que extraño de mi vida en la montaña —allí tenía muchos bosques por donde pasear—, pero, por desgracia, estaba lejos de todo. Por eso, tras pensarlo mucho, mi esposo y yo compramos una casa en la ciudad; ciertamente es menos relajante y hermosa que vivir en la montaña, pero resulta mucho más práctica y cercana a todos los servicios.
It was a pleasant walk overall; to reach the countryside, I do have to cross some rather busy roads, but as long as you're careful, it’s not difficult (though I must admit, drivers here don't pay much attention to speed limits). After just a short distance, however, you find yourself in the open countryside—surrounded by quiet, peaceful fields, with very few houses or people around. In fact, the only other person I encountered on my walk was a lady out walking her dog. These are peaceful places to walk; no one bothers you, and since there is little traffic, you can even walk while wearing earbuds, just as I often do. All in all, it was a lovely, relaxing walk, though I had to head back early; once the temperature started to rise, it became far too hot to keep walking—especially since there isn't much shade along these roads! Son lugares tranquilos para caminar; nadie te molesta y, como hay poco tráfico, incluso puedes ir escuchando música con auriculares, tal como suelo hacer yo. En resumen, fue un paseo encantador y relajante, aunque tuve que regresar pronto: en cuanto empezó a subir la temperatura, hacía demasiado calor para seguir caminando, ¡sobre todo porque no hay mucha sombra en esas carreteras!
