πŸ”₯ Guild Brawl Battle: Eternan Brune in a 42-Mana Wild Format

Greetings, fellow Summoners! πŸ‘‹

It’s another day of Guild Brawl, and this time I want to share one of my battles from the Wild Format. This battle was quite interesting because of the combination of Eternan Brune, a 42-mana cap, and the Junior Varsity ruleset, which allowed an additional Gladiator to enter the battlefield.

For me, this was the kind of battle where choosing the right Archon and taking advantage of the ruleset can make a huge difference.

βš”οΈ Battle Conditions Here are the important details of the battle:

Format: Wild Battle Type: Guild Brawl Mana Cap: 42 Archon: Eternan Brune Special Modifier: Junior Varsity Other Modifier: Holy Protection Third Modifier: Lost Magic

The 42-mana cap gave us plenty of room to build a strong lineup, so I decided not to rely on cheap units. Instead, I wanted to maximize the value of Eternan Brune and the Gladiator mechanic.

πŸ›‘οΈ Why Eternan Brune?

The star of this battle was Eternan Brune. Eternan Brune has the Conscript ability, which allows the use of one additional Gladiator card in battle. This becomes especially interesting when combined with the Junior Varsity ruleset. Junior Varsity allows me one additional Gladiator with low mana cost to be used in battle. When combined with an Archon carrying Conscript, this gives me access to multiple Gladiators on the battlefield. That’s a huge advantage in a Guild Brawl!

πŸ›οΈ Junior Varsity

This ruleset is practically made for Gladiator-heavy strategies. Its effect is simple: One additional Gladiator may be used in battle. Gladiators are particularly dangerous because of their Bloodlust ability. Every time a Gladiator gets a kill, its stats increase, allowing it to snowball if it starts getting eliminations. So when I saw Junior Varsity together with Eternan Brune, I immediately thought: "Why settle for one Gladiator when I can bring more?" πŸ˜‚ ✨ Holy Protection The second important ruleset was Holy Protection. Under this modifier, every unit receives Divine Shield, meaning the first damage they receive is completely ignored. This changes the opening rounds quite a bit. Instead of immediately dealing damage to health, the first successful attack generally removes the Divine Shield. This makes: Multiple attacks Fast units Sneak/Opportunity attacks Blast High attack frequency particularly valuable. It also means that simply having a very powerful single attack isn't always enough. You want to break those shields efficiently and then follow up with real damage.

πŸ”₯ My Strategy With 42 mana available, I wanted to build a lineup that could survive the initial exchange while giving my Gladiators enough opportunity to activate Bloodlust. The basic idea was: 1️⃣ Establish a strong frontline The first position needed to absorb the opponent's attacks while my other units prepared to deal damage. 2️⃣ Let the Gladiators do the dirty work 😈 This was the most important part of the strategy. Because of Junior Varsity + Conscript, I had access to multiple Gladiators. The goal wasn't simply to have more cards. The goal was to give Bloodlust more opportunities to activate. One Gladiator gets a kill β†’ stats increase. Another Gladiator gets a kill β†’ stats increase again. If the opponent fails to stop them early, the battle can quickly become a snowball. 3️⃣ Take advantage of Holy Protection Since every unit has Divine Shield, the opening attacks are extremely important. Removing the opponent's shields quickly creates opportunities for the next attacks to actually eliminate units.

βš”οΈ The Battle

Looking at the battlefield, both sides brought a fairly balanced lineup. My opponent had several strong units capable of dealing consistent damage, while my lineup was built around creating opportunities for the Gladiators to gain Bloodlust stacks. The first few attacks were mainly about removing Divine Shields. Once those shields started disappearing, the battle became much more dangerous. This is where the value of having additional Gladiators became apparent. Instead of depending on a single Bloodlust unit, I had multiple potential threats. Every successful kill could potentially make the next round even more difficult for my opponent.

🧠 What I Learned From This Battle This battle reminded me that rulesets should influence your entire lineup, not just one or two card choices. The combination of: 42 Mana + Holy Protection + Junior Varsity + Eternan Brune creates a very interesting environment. Eternan Brune isn't simply an Archon that you pick because of its stats. Its Conscript ability becomes significantly more valuable when the battle already encourages Gladiator usage. And in a Guild Brawl, where Gladiator cards are naturally part of the game mode, that synergy becomes even more interesting.

πŸ† Final Thoughts I really enjoy these kinds of Brawl battles because they feel different from ordinary Ranked matches. The Wild Format gives us access to a huge card pool, while the Brawl modifiers can completely change the way we construct our teams. For this particular battle, Eternan Brune + Conscript was the key to maximizing the Gladiator mechanic. And when the ruleset itself says: "You can bring another Gladiator." Why not bring even more? πŸ˜‚πŸ”₯

That's it for this Brawl battle! Good luck on the battlefield, fellow Summoners! βš”οΈπŸ”₯
