English Duality
“Dude, let’s go to Teresita’s bar,” Leonel urged his friend.
“I don’t think so. Tiffany’s furious, and I’d better behave myself.” Rubiel let out a sigh of disappointment.
“No, man. Is she still mad about what happened at Roxana’s party?”
“That’s right, and she keeps bringing it up all the time. She’s driving me crazy.” Rubiel rolled his eyes.
“Well, I was scared, too—showing up at the party and having to drag you out.” Leonel swung his arm like a whip.
“Shut up already—that’s not funny. For now, I’m going to behave myself until she gets over her bad mood.”
“Do you know who was asking about you after that incident?” Leonel gave him a mischievous look.
“No, who?” Rubiel showed unusual curiosity.
“Roxana. Haha.” Leonel nudged his friend.
“You’re kidding. She’s way too pretty to notice me.” Rubiel looked at his friend in disbelief.
“It’s true—she asked me about you herself. I gave her your cell phone number. Haha.”
“You’re an idiot—do you want Tiffany to kill me?” Rubiel looked worried.
“Don’t worry, Rubiel, that beauty won’t call you. Haha.” Leonel patted his friend on the back.
As they were leaving the café, a text message arrived on Rubiel’s cell phone. He quickly checked it, and his eyes nearly popped out of his head in shock. Leonel, worried about his friend, looked at the screen and burst out laughing.
Hi, Rubiel:
I hope you’re doing well, and I hope my party didn’t cause any trouble.
Kisses
“I can’t believe it.”
“Wow, looks like I was wrong, buddy. Now you’ve got a big problem. Haha.” Leonel handed the cell phone to his friend. “We better get going—we have to work tomorrow.”
Rubiel said goodbye to Leonel and headed for his car. He put the key in the ignition, and suddenly Roxana appeared—a beautiful dark-haired woman with blue eyes, a seductive mouth, and an incredible body. Rubiel jumped in fright, and a little scream filled the car.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you.” Roxana flashed a charming smile as she leaned into the passenger-side window.
“No, no, you didn’t scare me. I’m just a little startled.” Rubiel looked nervously at Roxana.
“Can you give me a ride?” Roxana gave him a seductive look.
Rubiel hesitated a little as he looked at the sexy woman.
“All right. Get in.”
The red car’s engine roared as smoke billowed from the exhaust, and it sped down the paved road. Roxana and Rubiel chatted as soft love music filled the car. The man felt something he’d lost over time. He felt happy, and that made him realize the reality of his life with Tiffany.
“Drop me off here, Rubiel.” Roxana pointed with her index finger.
“But you don’t live here, as far as I remember. Haha.” Rubiel’s eyes sparkled.
“No, it’s just that I have to run an errand. Haha.” Roxana flashed a mischievous smile.
Just then, her cell phone began to ring insistently. Rubiel started to feel uncomfortable. Roxana looked at him expectantly.
“Sorry, I have to go now. The police are calling me. Haha.” Rubiel looked a little nervous.
“I understand. Don’t worry, we’ll talk tomorrow. Bye.” Roxana got out of the car.
The cell phone kept ringing.
“Tiffany, what’s going on?” Rubiel sounded annoyed.
“Where are you? It’s getting late. Come home quickly. You don’t want to make me mad, do you?”
“I’m on my way, Tiffany.” Rubiel hung up.
The next day, Rubiel ran into Leonel.
“Hi, Leonel. I have to tell you something.” Rubiel smiled.
“Wow, looks like someone woke up in a good mood. I don’t think it’s because of Tiffany. Haha.”
“No, yesterday I took Roxana out, and we talked for a long time.”
“I can’t believe it. Was that goddess with you? Haha.”
“That’s right. We had a great time; it’s been a while since I’ve felt this way with a woman.” Rubiel sighed.
“Well, ladies’ man, here comes your goddess. Go talk to her.”
Roxana walked sensually down the office hallway. Rubiel ran his hand through his hair and adjusted his tie, then raised his hand.
“Hi, Roxana.” Rubiel flashed a big smile.
The woman kept walking and passed right by him. She didn’t even look at Rubiel, who was left stunned and unsure of what to do.
“Man, buddy, what did you do to her? Haha.”
“I don’t know. I really don’t understand women.” Rubiel looked embarrassed.
“You know how women are. Let’s get to work.” Leonel put his arm around the dejected Rubiel’s shoulders.
