Hello Everyone! Hope you all are doing amazing and welcome to another #Splinterlands post.
Alright, time for another #Splinterlands card spotlight!
Today I'm looking at a card that honestly caught my attention because of how simple it looks, but at the same time it has a pretty interesting combination of abilities.
The card I'm talking about today is, Karst Harpy.
Karst Harpy is an Epic Life unit, and at level 6, which is the max level for this card, it has 2 abilities:
Flying: +25% chance to evade physical attacks.
Scattershot: Magic and ranged attacks target a random enemy unit.
And honestly, a 3 mana Epic with 3 ranged attack, 7 health and 5 speed?
That's actually pretty interesting.
𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐋𝐨𝐨𝐤 ===================
So let's start with the stats.
Karst Harpy costs only 3 mana.
That's probably the first thing that stood out to me.
Three mana isn't much at all, especially when you're trying to build a team in a low mana battle and you have only a few points left to spend.
But the really nice part is that this little Harpy comes with 3 ranged attack.
That's pretty strong for a card costing just 3 mana.
It also has 7 health, which is not bad either.
And then there's the 5 speed.
That's another stat I really like.
Speed can make a huge difference in #Splinterlands, especially when you're dealing with ranged attackers.
If you can attack before the opponent gets their turn, sometimes that's all you need to take an enemy unit down before it can do any damage.
So just looking at the basic stats, Karst Harpy is already looking pretty decent.
But the abilities are where things get more interesting.
𝐀𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝟏: 𝐅𝐥𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 ===============================
Flying: +25% chance to evade physical attacks.
First up we have Flying.
This gives Karst Harpy a +25% chance to evade physical attacks.
And honestly, I always like seeing Flying on a relatively cheap unit.
Because this means your opponent isn't guaranteed to hit it with physical attacks.
Sometimes that one missed attack can completely change a battle.
Flying can create exactly those moments.
Of course, it's not guaranteed that the Harpy will dodge everything.
25% is still just a chance.
But it's enough to make the card more annoying to kill.
And combined with its 5 speed, Karst Harpy can become a pretty slippery target.
𝐀𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝟐: 𝐒𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐭 =========================================
Scattershot: Magic and ranged attacks target a random enemy unit.
Now this is probably the more interesting ability.
Scattershot means that Karst Harpy doesn't choose a target normally.
Instead, its ranged attack targets a random enemy unit.
And honestly, that's a fair question.
With normal targeting, you can plan exactly which enemy you want to hit.
With Scattershot, you don't have that control.
But there are situations where random targeting can actually be really useful.
For example, if the enemy has a strong tank sitting in front protecting everything behind it, Karst Harpy doesn't necessarily have to waste its attack on that tank.
The attack can land somewhere else.
It could hit a support unit.
It could hit a damage dealer.
It could hit a weaker unit hiding behind the tank.
And if you're lucky, it can hit exactly the unit you really wanted to get rid of.
