Winning for the Guild, but Coeurl Lurker Gave Me a Hard Time

Greetings, Splinterlands warriors!

How are you all doing? I hope you're staying healthy and still have enough patience for the Splinterlands arena, which can sometimes be more stubborn than we are.

The price of HIVE is currently hovering around $0.0411, after moving up and down following Bitcoin's price action. Well, that's the crypto world for you. The moment we see the chart rise a little, we start dreaming of becoming rich next month. Five minutes later, it drops again, and we're back to being ordinary people.

But that's okay.

Crypto may go up and down, but our spirit for playing shouldn't follow it.

And this time, I'm back with another story from a Brawl with the ClaNFT guild.

As usual, I was once again trusted to take Fray 12. I'm not sure whether it's becoming a tradition or if I've simply become a permanent resident there. Either way, Fray 12 became my battlefield once again.

This time, I had four actual battles that I personally played. Besides those, I also received four automatic victories because the opposing guild didn't fill their battle slots.

Out of the four battles I actually played, the results weren't perfect. I managed to win two matches, while I had to give the other two to my opponents.

Combined with the automatic wins, my final record became:

6 Wins – 2 Losses

With that result, I contributed 18 points to the guild.

Not a perfect record, of course.

But I think it's fair to say that I did my part.

And what made me even happier was that ClaNFT managed to finish in first place.

The guild competition this time was quite close, so seeing ClaNFT sitting at the top of the leaderboard definitely made my chest feel a little lighter.

The rewards were pretty enjoyable too: the guild earned 46 Crowns, every member who participated fully received 2,400 Merits, and players with a Spellbook received 42.326 staked SPS.

Not bad at all.

Especially if SPS continues to grow in the future. We never really know when crypto assets will finally decide to smile again.

When Coeurl Lurker Becomes a Wall

However, out of everything that happened during this brawl, there was one battle that stayed in my mind the most.

Not because I won it easily.

Actually, it was the complete opposite.

I had to face Coeurl Lurker.

And this monster genuinely made me feel like I was knocking on someone's front door while the owner simply refused to open it.

Its defense was incredibly strong.

Every attack I launched felt like it was thrown with confidence, only to come back at me as a question:

"Are you sure you want to try that again?"

I think this is one of the things that makes Splinterlands so interesting.

Sometimes we look at a single enemy monster and immediately think, “Ah, I can handle that.”

But once the battle begins, reality says otherwise.

Coeurl Lurker managed to survive much longer than I expected. I had to work incredibly hard just to break through its defenses, and with every passing round I realized that simply choosing monsters with high damage isn't enough.

We also have to think about whether that damage can actually break through the opponent's defensive formation.

And that's one of the mistakes I often make.

Sometimes I'm too focused on how much attack power my own monsters have that I forget to ask:

"Is this damage actually effective against my opponent's lineup?"

It's a simple question.

But the answer can determine the outcome of the entire match.

Winning the Guild Doesn't Mean Winning Every Battle

There was something else I realized from this brawl.

Personally, I finished with 6 wins and 2 losses.

Yet our guild still became the overall champion.

It reminded me that a brawl isn't a competition built around just one player.

I could have achieved a perfect record, but if the other members didn't participate, the guild would still struggle to reach the top.

On the other hand, when everyone does their part, the small victories earned by each individual eventually become one big number on the leaderboard.

That's what I enjoy about participating in brawls.

There's a feeling that the battles we fight aren't ours alone.

There's a guild name behind us.

There are teammates fighting alongside us.
