How do you deal with your stress or heartbreak?

It is a long way....but I think, I am on the right path.

This year has been an absolute roller coaster, starting with my mom's sudden surgery right on the New Year. We were in the middle of preparing for New Year's Eve when everything changed; she urgently needed medical care. In that critical moment, we dropped everything to prioritize her health and well-being. This experience reminded me that setting life's priorities is essential. For me, our parents and in-laws will always come first—they are the very reason we are in this world today. Every year, I capture and share our Zero night celebration, but this year was an exception, I joined for a very limited time for the dinner.

Even though Mom and me were in hospital, Dad was given the right care at home and I must say family support matters immensely during times of stress. Knowing that we have a reliable safety net changes how our brain evaluates a crisis, making challenges feel much more manageable and the boy took a lot of load from me.

I have barely seen Dad as stressed and the reason of that is that he is assured that I am there to take care of everything. And I consider that as my duty and feel privileged to be able to take care of everything, thanking God to give me that power. Being the person your family relies on is a profound responsibility, and that's something kids learn from us when it's practiced - something that is not taught in books.

Stress is always visible on our face unless we wear a "social mask" - which you know I don't. I am very straight at everything and of late I have realized that conquering the weight of stress lies in three practices: the grounding nature of discipline, the wisdom of prioritizing what truly matters in a limited day, and the deep comfort of spiritual engagement. For the last few months, this approach has helped immensely. I know more challenges lie ahead as my son begins to pursue his career and leaves the comfort of his father’s home—a chapter that has truly been the best part of our lives. But I must let him go to build his own life. That is the ultimate reality: we enter this world alone, and we leave it alone. Everything in between is shaped by the choices we make. If you do what is right, you will always possess inner peace. Otherwise, your conscience will haunt you—there is simply no escape.
