Solar beat coal by 3 to 1: EU solar hits 25% in June 2026

Solar beat coal by 3 to 1.

June 2026: solar produced 25% of EU electricity — 52 TWh — making it the largest single power source on the continent for the month. Nuclear 21%, gas 15%, wind 14%, hydro 12%, coal 8%.

It was 10% five years ago, and it has only led for three months ever. 18 of 27 member states set records this year; Germany reached 36%, Spain 34%.

The interesting part isn't the generation. It's that the win came from 65 GW added in one year across an enormous number of small, separately-owned installations — including over a million German balcony kits at about €200 each.

More assets, more owners, more paperwork. Generating the power is now the easy half; administering who owns what is the half nobody has fixed.

That's the layer SDA builds, on-chain.
