Low-key I feel like it's getting so bad. The sheer honest level of unbridled stupidity being allowed on the Internet nowadays is so crazy, and this has made me realize that the average human is indeed a very pitiable creature.

I know immediately, when one reads the first paragraph, they may think this is one other person talking about the [Lindsey Clancey Case](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KillingoftheClancychildren) (and maybe we should cause I don't understand as to how a woman killed her 3 kids and some other women are claiming in summary that her hormones made me do it.) I'm actually not talking about her—or maybe it'll be apt to say I'm not talking about just her. For the last decade, the incredibly fast progress of the Internet and social media apps have made it easier for news and stories to fly around faster, suddenly faster than it can get verified for facts. The addition of the monetization mode in the last 5 years made it even more impossible to deal with the news, as people are more interested in the clicks, the views and the engagements of the story, instead of the story itself.
In my country, Nigeria, we have that frightening hustler mentality; A huge drive to make money. It is a mentality bred because of just how bad the country's economy is and to the extent one needs that money to survive. The newest gold now is social media. The most clicks, views, replies and engagements, all to earn that "Musk Dollar." It's a very low effort, high yield way to gain, and the only thing you need to sell is your online dignity.
X, Tiktok and so many other Nigerian populated social media platforms have become a place where one would see the most craziest of things. Content ranging from brain cells killing to actual vile, ridiculous and sometimes retarded. The type of opinions that are sure to gather replies and engagements is what is rampant, simply because stupidity sells.
When I started this rant, I had a general idea about what to talk about, but now I'm a bit too emotional to fully convey my feelings in words. All I do know is that nowadays it's more of a punishment to come online, to have to interact with these content because when they are trending they can't be avoided. It's a vicious cycle... > The stupid videos about stupid people doing stupid things are watched by other more stupid people and they leave stupid comments that make you the reader more stupid.
