FungiFriday: Xylaria longipes 2026 (Engl / Spn)

Today is Friday, so Happy #FungiFriday, everyone! As I mentioned in my previous post, I’ve seen more mushrooms on my plot this 2026 season than I did in 2025; however, they are the same ones I’ve seen in previous years. I suppose it’s because the spores remained scattered across the area, and with the arrival of the rains, they grew back.

The photos I am sharing with you today are of the species Xylaria longipes, which is characterized by its phallic shape. The specimens I photographed weeks ago are already mature—I know this because of their dark gray, almost black, coloration. They grew on the remains of a tamarind log that is still on my property.

Los ejemplares que fotografié semanas atrás ya están maduros, y esto lo sé por su coloración gris oscura, casi negra. Estos crecieron en los restos de un tronco de tamarindo que aún está en mi solar.
