The Creator who created us created us to fulfill a particular purpose. No man does anything that does not have the reason for doing it. God who created us has the purpose why He created us. We are not just existing as free lance creatures (if my grammar is correct). God created us to come and fulfill a particular purpose. I have a specific reason why I am alive. Equally, you also have a reason for the life that God give to you.
Looking at it from a general sense (that is to say that there is a specific analysis also), we were created for the pleasure of God. That is what the Bible says. It says that God created all things and for His pleasure they exist. We are existing to worship Him. We are existing to give glory to God. We are created to do the will of God.
What is your pursuit and ambition for life? Do you regard God in all that you are doing? Living for the pleasure of God is what we are created to do. Anyone who does not live for the glory of God is defeating his purpose for existence.
