Hey crew! We decided to turn the mud at Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas into a skate football field to take advantage of the World Cup, and it ended up becoming the story I needed to tell.
First highlight: making the teams on the spot. Twenty four skaters, eight nations, three guys per team. The vibe was tense because the court was public, but the energy of the crew felt like a world championship. When the whistle (actually our shout) blew, the first goal was a flip off kick that made the crowd go wild. The prize of 4âŻ000 reais, the Udlight pants and the maple decks made the contest even more serious, but what really mattered was seeing everyone helping each other with tricks and passes, like a real game.
Second moment that stuck: the âKarenâ of Picobol. She showed up in the middle of the second half, blocked the court, called the police and tried to stop the game. Meanwhile the municipal guard was confused, trying to figure out what âpicobolâ was. We kept cool, acted as improvised referees and after a few minutes of debate the police dropped the case. The game resumed, we finished overtime and still walked away with the feeling that the street is our track, no matter who tries to shut it down.
At the end of the ride, the rain was still falling, but the track was already painted again after a failed attempt to erase the Picobol markings. The sound of wheels on asphalt, the crewâs laughter and that last head butt goal closed the day like a skate film worth filming.

Fala, galera! A gente decidiu transformar a lama da Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas num campo de futebol de skate pra aproveitar a Copa do Mundo, e acabou virando a histĂłria que eu precisava contar.
Primeiro ponto alto: montar os times na hora. Vinte e quatro skatistas, oito seleçÔes, trĂȘs caras por time. O clima tava tenso porque a quadra era pĂșblica, mas a energia da galera era de campeonato mundial. Quando o apito (na verdade, o grito da gente) soou, o primeiro gol foi um flipâoffâkick que fez a plateia virar. O prĂȘmio de 4âŻmil reais, as calças da Udlight e os shapes de maple deixaram a disputa ainda mais sĂ©ria, mas o que realmente fez a diferença foi ver a galera se ajudando nas manobras e nos passes, como se fosse um jogo de verdade.
Segundo momento que marcou: a âKarenâ do Picobol. Ela apareceu no meio do segundo tempo, bloqueou a quadra, chamou a polĂcia e tentou impedir o jogo. Enquanto isso o guarda municipal ficava confuso, tentando entender o que era âpicobolâ. A gente manteve a calma, fizemos a gente de juiz improvisado e, depois de alguns minutos de discussĂŁo, a polĂcia acabou largando o caso. O jogo voltou, a gente terminou o tempo extra e ainda saiu com a sensação de que a rua Ă© nossa pista, nĂŁo importa quem tenta fechar.
No fim do rolĂȘ, a chuva ainda caĂa, mas a pista jĂĄ tava pintada de novo depois de uma tentativa frustrada de remover a marcação do Picobol. O som das rodas no asfalto, a risada da galera e aquele Ășltimo gol de cabeça fecharam o dia como um filme de skate que valeu a pena gravar.
