Happy Caturday! Today, 8 August, Cat Day, I want to thank God for creating this furry, sleepy creature who has stolen our hearts, and also to thank everyone who looks after their cats with responsibility and love.
Hermosú is growing up fast – he’s almost a teenager now – and he’s still a real handful and very playful. He gave me quite a fright the other day, because he was sitting under a chair looking at me, and the next second he was lying on the floor in a way I’d never seen him before – he was lying on his back, and I thought he’d fainted because he’d gone from sitting to lying down in a split second, and his paws were in a strange position; one of them was clinging to the chair. When I saw him, I took a few photos as I had my mobile in my hand, but then I got a bit nervous, went over to him and startled him.

Another of his antics is climbing the coconut palm; he scales it with such agility and reaches several metres up. Over the months, he’s been getting better at it, perfecting his technique and building strength in his paws for grip and lifting. It’s in the afternoons that they start playing and climbing; sometimes it takes my breath away with amazement. I’ve wanted to film him, but he’s so quick, and the only footage I’ve managed to get is the one you can see in the GIF, though on that day he didn’t climb as high as he does now.
I love watching them overcome their challenges. He’s getting stronger, but he’s also nervous; he’s afraid of loud noises, runs away when he hears the sound of an aeroplane, and is wary of strangers, hiding away when we have visitors. These are traits my previous cats didn’t have, so I’ve learnt that every cat is different and has a unique, one-of-a-kind personality.

> Me gusta verlos superar sus retos, se hace fuerte, pero también es nervioso, le teme a los ruidos fuertes, huye cuando escucha el sonido de un avión y le teme a los extraños escondiéndose cuando hay visitas. Son características que no han tenido mis antiguos gatos por lo que he aprendido que cada uno es diferente y posee un carácter único e irrepetible.
