Pick what is good and leave what is bad

Morality, as I know it, is the ability to pick good conduct out of bad conduct in life. A good example is a person deciding not to steal no matter what, even though stealing is the only option to survive.

From what I've seen and read about how different people live in different parts of the world, I can say that morality is not just an individual thing; it's also shaped by the society one lives in. I am a Nigerian, a Christian, and there are some standards we've been made to follow, which appear as good conduct and going against them means we are losing our morals, while some of these practices in other parts of the world or religions are not so much a big deal when people go against them. A very good example of this is having intercourse before marriage. While growing up, we held onto this as living on the correct path in life and going against this means we are losing our morale. However, this lifestyle of no intercourse before marriage has degraded a lot. In other parts of the world and religion, having intercourse after marriage is not a bad thing. Like we've seen in foreign movies, where young adults who are not married are free to do whatever they like. The morals in my country and religion forbid teenagers of opposite gender kissing, unlike how this is freely allowed to be done publicly in some countries. So you see that morals, most of the time they come from the laws governing society.
Morality can also be influenced by one's conscience. Just like I highlighted earlier, one's morals can be what they've made up their mind to be and to do, irrespective of what others are doing.
