Dahlias - late season beauties

I love my Dahlias this time of year. Dahlias are a lot of work. In my climate, the tubers will not survive the winter so they have to be dug up each fall and stored inside.
Then each spring, you replant the tubers. They will grow and bloom in late summer.
They are the last flowers in my beds to bloom and last until first frost.
The Dahlias are beautiful as the rest of my flowers are fading. Even the hardy blackeyed susans are coming to an end.
Each bloom is beautiful. Some are more perfect than others but all are gorgeous.
I have two groups this year of about the same size. We have planted and replanted this tubers several years now. Each year you divide them and throw out any that don't look healthy. Then usually throw out a few more in the spring after the winter in a paper bag in the basement.
Even with all that, each year we have more and more. We have found at least one neighbor interested in some tubers next year. And will try to find a few more places to donate some tubers to by spring. Its not charity its survival 😅 I never want to throw away healthy tubers and it becomes overwhelming at some point.
