This is by far my favorite type of Hydrangea. I mean, look at the size of those flowers. I had taken enough photos throughout the spring and summer that I thought I'd share them with you today.
This was taken on July 7th just as the sun was setting. It has fully leafed out and is just starting to show signs of bud formation.
Three weeks later, on July 28th, you can see how quickly the conical blooms have grown. The flowers really do have a lime color, thus the name, "Limelight".
On August 3rd, the flowers are starting to turn white.
It didn't take long before all the blossoms had white showing on the lower half of the flowers. That was August 8th
Only five days went by, and you can barely see any lime left on the flowers. Also, the branches are starting to bend over with the extra weight.
On August 15th, I snapped another photo before the rain started. This is at the stage when a floral designer visited my neighbor, and she saw the Hydrangea. She asked if she could harvest the flowers to dry for a fall wedding she will be doing.
One great thing about this Hydrangea is that bees love gathering pollen or nectar from the blossoms. Personally, it is my favorite, and I hope to enjoy it for many more years to come.
