We’re kicking off another week of work, and with it come new stories, new challenges, and that constant bustle that characterizes the island at this time of year. You can still feel the festive atmosphere leading up to the celebrations for the Virgen del Valle, patron saint of this beloved land, and it’s clear that the influx of visitors will continue to grow. Many people from all over the country come to make their pilgrimage, to give thanks, to ask for favors, and to reconnect with their faith and traditions. That deep devotion always changes the rhythm of the island; the streets fill up, businesses are bustling, hotels are full, and traffic becomes a minor daily challenge. That’s why, this past weekend, I decided to get plenty of rest and treat myself to some quiet moments. Sometimes, when I know difficult days are coming, I prefer to take a breather before the routine intensifies. So on Sunday afternoon, we went for a walk, with the intention of clearing our minds and enjoying some unhurried time together.
Comenzamos una semana más de trabajo y, con ella, nuevas historias, nuevos retos y ese movimiento constante que caracteriza a la Isla en estas fechas. Todavía se siente el ambiente festivo que antecede a las celebraciones de la Virgen del Valle, patrona de esta tierra tan querida, y es evidente que la afluencia de visitantes seguirá aumentando. Muchas personas de todo el país llegan para cumplir su peregrinación, para agradecer, para pedir, para reencontrarse con la fe y con la tradición. Esa devoción tan profunda siempre transforma el ritmo de la Isla; las calles se llenan, los comercios se mueven, los hoteles se ocupan y el tráfico se vuelve un pequeño desafío diario. Por eso, este fin de semana que acaba de culminar decidí descansar bastante y regalarme momentos tranquilos. A veces, cuando sé que vienen días complicados, prefiero tomarme un respiro antes de que la rutina se intensifique. Así que el domingo en la tarde salimos a caminar, con la intención de despejar la mente y disfrutar un rato sin apuros.
We chose La Vela shopping center, a place we always enjoy because of its lively atmosphere and, above all, its excellent climate control. Walking around there is a relief, especially during these days of intense heat that we’re feeling all over the island.
Elegimos el centro comercial La Vela, un lugar que siempre nos resulta agradable por su dinámica, su ambiente y, sobre todo, por la excelente climatización que ofrece. Caminar allí es un alivio, especialmente en estos días de calor fuerte que se sienten en toda la Isla.
As we walked through the aisles, we noticed that while there was a constant flow of people, the atmosphere remained relaxed. From certain areas of the mall, you can see part of the Venetur marina, and that view always adds a special touch—the contrast between city life and the nearby sea, a reminder that even amid the hustle and bustle, the island retains its natural essence. We stayed there for a while, taking in the scenery, chatting, and enjoying the tranquility of the moment.
Mientras recorríamos los pasillos, observamos cómo el movimiento de personas era constante, pero aun así se mantenía un ambiente relajado. Desde ciertas áreas del centro comercial se puede ver parte de la marina Venetur, y esa vista siempre aporta un toque especial; el contraste entre la vida urbana y el mar cercano, ese recordatorio de que, incluso en medio del bullicio, la Isla conserva su esencia natural. Nos quedamos un rato contemplando el paisaje, conversando y disfrutando de la tranquilidad del momento.
We kept walking at a leisurely pace, simply letting the path lead us. Sometimes you don’t need a detailed plan to have a good time; it’s enough to move around, observe, breathe, and let your mind settle. After a while, we decided to head home, but we did so before the tourists started leaving the beach. We know that when that happens, traffic gets much heavier, and we’d rather avoid the chaos that builds up in a matter of minutes.
Seguimos caminando sin prisa, simplemente dejándonos llevar por el recorrido. A veces no hace falta un plan elaborado para pasar un buen rato; basta con moverse, observar, respirar y dejar que la mente se acomode. Después de un rato decidimos regresar a casa, pero lo hicimos antes de que los turistas comenzaran a salir de la playa. Ya sabemos que cuando eso ocurre el tráfico se vuelve mucho más denso y preferimos evitar ese caos que se forma en cuestión de minutos.
The trip back was peaceful, with that pleasant feeling of having made the most of the afternoon without any pressure. That’s how our Sunday went: relaxed, serene, and uneventful—like a much-needed little break before facing a week that promises to be full of activity. Sometimes these simple moments are the most valuable, because they allow us to recharge our batteries and maintain a balance between work, responsibilities, and everyday life.
El regreso fue tranquilo, con esa sensación agradable de haber aprovechado la tarde sin exigencias. Así transcurrió nuestro domingo; relajado, sereno, sin sobresaltos, como un pequeño descanso necesario antes de enfrentar una semana que promete estar llena de movimiento. A veces estos momentos sencillos son los que más valor tienen, porque nos permiten recargar energías y mantener el equilibrio entre el trabajo, las responsabilidades y la vida cotidiana.
