It’s almost the weekend, and I’m already feeling that gentle joy that comes when you know you’ll be able to rest a little. It’s been a pretty busy and productive week, full of responsibilities and errands, so I’m happy to have this little breather. I wish you all a fabulous Friday and a weekend full of wonderful plans—the kind you enjoy without rushing and that help you recharge. This past Thursday was particularly hectic. We had to return to the Wyndham Concorde Hotel because it’s packed with tourists, and due to high demand, they’ve been refilling their water tanks with water from tanker trucks. When this happens, monitoring and checking the water levels becomes even more important, so we got up early to handle everything calmly and precisely. The weather, as has been the norm these days, was glorious. The sun rose majestically very early, and the island’s urban and natural landscapes looked beautiful, bathed in that warm light that makes everything seem more alive. During the tour, I took the opportunity to capture a few moments and show you how dawn breaks on Margarita, because every day has its own special charm.
Casi es fin de semana y ya siento esa alegría suave que llega cuando uno sabe que podrá descansar un poco. Ha sido una semana bastante activa y productiva, llena de responsabilidades y recorridos, así que este pequeño respiro lo recibo con gusto. Les deseo un viernes fabuloso y un fin de semana lleno de planes bonitos, de esos que se disfrutan sin prisa y que ayudan a recargar energías. Este jueves que recién culminó fue particularmente movido. Tuvimos que volver al hotel Wyndham Concorde porque está lleno de turistas y, debido a la alta demanda, han estado surtiendo sus tanques con agua de gandola. Cuando esto ocurre, el control y el chequeo de los valores se vuelve aún más importante, así que nos levantamos temprano para poder atender todo con calma y precisión. El clima, como ha sido costumbre estos días, estaba radiante. El sol salió imponente desde muy temprano y los paisajes urbanos y naturales de la isla se veían hermosos, bañados por esa luz cálida que hace que todo parezca más vivo. En el recorrido aproveché para capturar algunos momentos y mostrarles cómo amanece Margarita, porque cada día tiene su encanto particular.
When we arrived at the hotel, everything went quickly and smoothly. That’s one of the advantages of the high season: services start earlier, and if you plan well, you’ll have plenty of time to get home before the vacationers start swarming around like ants.
Al llegar al hotel todo fluyó rápido y sin contratiempos. Esa es una de las ventajas de la temporada alta; los servicios se hacen más temprano y, si uno se organiza bien, queda tiempo suficiente para retornar a casa antes de que los temporadistas comiencen a moverse de un lado a otro como hormigas.
After finishing our work, we decided to stop by the Concorde Marina to breathe in a little sea air. I always say it: that air does you good—it clears your head, relaxes you, and helps balance your mind after a busy day.
Después de terminar nuestro trabajo, decidimos pasar por la marina Concorde para respirar un poquito de aire de mar. Siempre lo digo; ese aire hace bien, despeja, relaja y ayuda a equilibrar la mente después de una jornada intensa.
However, as we were leaving the marina, something unexpected happened: my glasses fell off and one of the arms broke. I got really nervous because I can barely see without my glasses, and being without them makes me feel incredibly vulnerable. Without a second thought, we headed into town to go to the optician where I usually get my glasses made.
Sin embargo, al salir de la marina ocurrió algo inesperado; mis lentes se cayeron y una de las patas se quebró. Me puse muy nerviosa porque sin lentes prácticamente no puedo ver, y estar sin ellos me causa una sensación de vulnerabilidad tremenda. Sin pensarlo dos veces, salimos rumbo a la ciudad para ir a la óptica donde suelo hacer mis lentes.
When I arrived, they told me they didn't have a brace like that, but that another branch could help me. So we went there, and luckily, they were able to fit me with a new brace. It’s not the best fit for me because it doesn’t have the silicone pads, and the plastic tends to irritate my eyes a little in the heat, but at least it’s a temporary solution until I get new glasses next week when I’ll have more time. They took great care of me—they even gave me some eye drops to relieve the eye irritation from the two hours I spent without my glasses.
Al llegar, me comentaron que no tenían una armadura igual, pero que en otra sucursal podían ayudarme. Así que nos dirigimos hasta allá y, por suerte, lograron colocarme una nueva armadura. No es la que mejor me acomoda porque no tiene los calsos de silicón y el plástico suele irritarme un poco con el calor, pero al menos es una solución momentánea mientras la semana que viene me hago unos lentes nuevos con más calma. Me atendieron muy bien, incluso me facilitaron unas gotas para aliviar la irritación ocular por las dos horas que estuve sin lentes.
With that unexpected problem now resolved, we set off for home with peace of mind. As we turned onto Fucho Tovar Avenue, we saw the long lines of buses waiting to fill up with subsidized fuel before heading out on their usual routes. That all-too-familiar sight on the island stayed with us as we continued on our way, satisfied that we had accomplished everything we needed to that day.
Con ese problema inesperado ya resuelto, nos marchamos tranquilos hacia la casa. Al tomar la avenida Fucho Tovar vimos las largas filas de autobuses esperando para colocar combustible subsidiado antes de salir a sus recorridos habituales. Esa imagen tan cotidiana de la isla nos acompañó mientras seguíamos nuestro camino, satisfechos por haber logrado todo lo necesario en el día.
