Hand of God (Pastel on Paper)

This new piece was inspired by the famous painting “Hand of God” by Leonardo Da Vinci, and I completed it this past month. It depicts two figures, one of which is a male figure whose face is covered in darkness while the other figure is a female who looks ethereal and holy. While the figures themselves have their bodies worthy of attention, the main attention is the interaction and almost a touch in the centre of the artwork. The male figure shows humanity in darkness and despair and reaching out to another being for salvation and hope of purity. This piece was quite challenging to make but I love the outcome a lot. I am particular intrigued by how some other people have different interpretations to it for example a friend said that there is a risk that the pure entity may actually be dragged into the darkness and despair which further shows how art can be interpreted in many ways. This piece was created using pastel and was done on paper. I hope you love it.
