The Cats zine I worked on with my friends the other day is now finished; we’re moving on to the next issue, which has the theme ‘Bloom’ and is scheduled for completion by the end of June. Oh, and for those who don’t know, the zine is called Aberazine.

This is the first piece I’ve created for this zine, I expect to complete around five pieces for this issue, whilst the other contributors are providing at least one or two pieces each.
Given that this project is run by two people, I came up with the theme for the first issue, whilst for this one my partner suggested the theme. At first I was a bit stumped on how to interpret the theme ‘Bloom, all I could think of was flowers in full bloom, hehehe. After a moment’s, I found the inspiration for the artwork, for me, something blooming also represents a beginning or a birth and a spirit, yet on the other hand, we will all die and turn to “ashes”. This piece portrays a reality where there is both ascent and descent.
This piece was created using a pen on A5 paper, I sketched it in 2B pencil and then inked it using various sizes of ink, before scanning it using an app on my mobile phone. Here are the steps:
