National Roller Coaster Day is celebrated every August 16th. Roller coasters were first patented in the early 19th century. For over a hundred years, they have provided riders with thrills they could not experience in any other way. National Roller Coaster Day originated in the mid-1980s, when a major newspaper (believed to be the Los Angeles Times) declared it a holiday within the amusement park industry. This proclamation was based on the date—August 16—when the patent for the first roller coaster in the United States was recorded.

Roller coasters have existed for a long time. Their origins trace back to attractions known as "Russian Mountains," built in the 17th century using specially constructed ice hills. These were followed by the first modern roller coaster, known as Promenades Aériennes, which opened in Paris on July 8, 1817. This ride incorporated many features found in modern roller coasters, such as wheels locked onto the track, guide rails, and higher speeds. During the 19th century, mine railways and scenic railways became common, but it was not until 1886 that the first roller coaster was officially patented. In the decades that followed, roller coasters enjoyed growing popularity, and the 1920s marked the beginning of the Golden Age of Roller Coasters. Since then, they have remained a part of society.

Family Time!
Well hey there, did ya miss us? We missed you! So much, in fact, that we have rescheduled our 'Family Time' to Fridays and we hope to see you there! Join our lovely band of outcasts, normies, goofballs, pimps, degenerates, professionals and all things within and without and betwixt and between starting 6 pm CST/ 7 pm EST. We always try to have a little fun and and if you're paying attention, a few smiles might just be shared. We like to smile. We like to laugh. We realize that life isn't all about the important things like #politics, #religion and #sex, no, it's about the time spent, the experiences had and memories made. Memories get passed on, experiences are shared and time - time is the currency we spend to acquire them.
