I won't lie, when I heard that Chelsea explored the possibility of signing Renato Sanches but Xabi Alonso decided against it, my first reaction was simple: “Are we sure about this one?” 😂 I understand why Alonso made the decision. But as a Chelsea fan, I can't forget what happened against Arsenal. That game exposed some things for me. It was not just about losing 2-1. Losing to Arsenal has unfortunately become something we are getting far too used to, and that's the part that hurts the most. Since 2021, it feels like we keep finding ourselves on the wrong side of this rivalry. 😭 So when I hear that Chelsea had an opportunity to add another midfielder, even someone like Renato Sanches who comes with his own question marks, part of me thinks we should have taken the opportunity. I'm not saying Sanches is the missing piece that will suddenly turn Chelsea into Premier League champions. Far from it. But football is a long season. Injuries will come. Suspensions will come. Fatigue will come. There will be matches where we need a different type of midfielder to change the game. That's why I personally feel Chelsea should have considered adding more depth. At the same time, I don't want us to become that club that keeps buying players without a clear plan. We have done enough of that in the past. If Alonso has looked at his midfield options and said, “These are my boys. I trust them,” then okay, boss… prove it to us. 😂💙 Because now there is no excuse. I want to see this midfield grow together. I want them to be brave on the ball, win more battles, control the tempo and, most importantly, stand up when we face the big teams. And yes, I'm especially talking about Arsenal. 😭 I'm tired of hearing Arsenal fans reminding us about their recent record against Chelsea. Please, boys, do something about it! 😂 Maybe Alonso will eventually prove that rejecting Renato Sanches was the right decision. Maybe I will look back at this post months from now and laugh at myself. I honestly hope that's what happens. For now, I will trust our manager. But Alonso, my brother… we are trusting you o! 😂💙 Make this midfield work. Because the next time we face Arsenal, I don't want another excuse.
