For me, it is not just about getting another goalkeeper. Chelsea need someone who can bring experience, confidence and a strong mentality into the team. And when you look at Martinez, you cannot say he lacks any of those things. The guy has been through some serious football battles. He is a World Cup winner with Argentina, he has played in big games, and he has developed a reputation for being very confident when the pressure is highest. Some Chelsea fans may look at his age and say, “He is already 33.” I understand that argument, but honestly, I don't think age should automatically make this a bad signing. Sometimes a team does not need another young player with potential. Sometimes you need someone who has already been there and knows how to handle pressure. And that is exactly what makes this transfer interesting to me. The reported £7.5 million fee is another thing I like. In today's transfer market, that does not look like a crazy amount of money for a goalkeeper with Martinez's experience. If he can give us a couple of seasons of consistency and help bring some calmness to the defence, I would consider that money well spent. But there is something else I’m looking forward to. His personality. 😂 Martinez can be a lot sometimes. He talks, he celebrates, he gets into the heads of opponents and he is not afraid to show confidence. Some people love it, some people hate it. But honestly, I think Chelsea could use a bit of that. We need players who are not scared of pressure. We need players who can stand up when things are not going our way instead of disappearing. Imagine having Martinez behind the defence when Chelsea are protecting a one-goal lead late in a big match. I want that kind of experience in the team. Of course, signing him does not suddenly solve every problem Chelsea have. The defence still needs to be organised, and the team still needs to improve in several areas. But I believe this could be a very sensible piece of business. I'm personally happy with this one. Now I just want the paperwork completed, the medical done and Martinez officially wearing that Chelsea shirt. 😂💙 Because if he can bring even half of the mentality that made him a World Cup-winning goalkeeper, then Chelsea fans could have something very interesting to look forward to.
