Basic care for all, not luxury for a few

Sometimes I try to wrap my head around why taxpayers should pay for the healthcare of people who have commited serious crimes. A lot of those inmates have commited terrible crimes such as killed people, rape, robberies and other serious crimes. Meanwhile, the law abiding citizens work hard, pay taxes, sometimes it's e e difficult to buy medicine. I'll bluntly say NO. Don't get me wrong, I didn't say they shouldn't get healthcare benefits that will be wicked, but they shouldn't get the same healthcare benefit as the law abiding citizens. They are human beings and they commited an offence and being sent to prison should be enough punishment, so they shouldn't be denied health care when they are sick.
I understand why some people may feel angry about this. Imagine a hardworking mother who cannot afford to take her sick child to the hospital, while a prisoner receives medical care because the government is responsible for him. That situation can feel very unfair. Many people struggle every day to pay hospital bills, buy medicine, or even afford basic food. It is painful when they see public money being used to care for people who have broken the law.
There is also a reason for taking care of the healthcare of prisoners. Prisons are places where many people live close together. If an inmate has a serious infectious disease and receives no treatment, it could spread to other inmates and prison workers. Those workers eventually return to their families and communities. So, providing healthcare in prison can also protect people outside the prison.
But I strongly believe there should be fairness. Prisoners should receive necessary and reasonable medical care, not luxury treatment that ordinary citizens cannot afford. The government should also make sure that hospitals and healthcare centres serving law-abiding citizens are properly funded. It would be wrong for a poor family outside prison to suffer because too much public money is being spent on prisoners.
We should also remember that not every person in prison is guilty of the same crime. Some inmates may have committed very serious crimes, while others may be there for less serious offences. Some people may even be wrongly convicted. Therefore, healthcare should not depend completely on how much we dislike someone's crime.
Conclusively, I believe prisoners should receive healthcare benefits because they are still humans but the law abiding citizens who work hard everyday and pay all taxes should not be forgotten.
I think the real issue is not whether prisoners deserve healthcare. They do. The bigger question is whether our government is doing enough to provide good and affordable healthcare for everyone. We should not have to choose between caring for prisoners and caring for innocent citizens. A fair society should be able to do both.
Sincerely speaking I don't even know if prisoners get healthcare benefit in my country, but I'll ask a police officer one day, hopefully he should tell me.
