After making a Hormuz honeycomb...U.S. Treasury: "High Oil Prices Due to Ukraine's Attack on Russia"

>(Seoul=News1) Senior Correspondent Yoo Cheol-jong = U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bents claimed that attacks on Russia’s oil infrastructure in Ukraine are fueling the rise in international energy prices.
>The New York Times (NYT) reported on the 3rd (local time) that Secretary Besente identified Ukraine as a new factor of responsibility for high oil prices that are burdening the global economy. After concluding the G20 finance ministers’ meeting this week in Asheville, North Carolina, Secretary Bensen appeared on Fox News and identified Ukraine’s attacks on Russian oil infrastructure as one of the causes of the global energy shock. He said, “We are now experiencing an energy shock,” adding, “The war in Ukraine is also a cause, as Ukraine is trying to blow up Russia’s energy assets and refined petroleum products, which is putting upward pressure on prices worldwide.” He went on to say, “And there is the Iranian conflict (for other reasons),” adding, “The Iranian conflict will end.”
>NYT reported that the current global energy shock was mainly triggered by the war between the United States and Iran, but that Secretary Besente publicly identified Ukraine’s drone attacks as a factor in driving prices up. Over the past several months, Ukraine has continued long-range drone attacks on energy facilities such as Russian refineries and oil storage facilities, causing disruptions to Russia’s production and export of petroleum products. A severe fuel supply shortage occurred within Russia, and it is reported that the Russian government’s restrictions on the export of gasoline and diesel also affected the global fuel market. On the 3rd, U.S. diesel prices neared an all-time high, and Brent crude, the international benchmark for oil prices, rose to about $97 per barrel. The NYT assessed that Secretary Besent is facing the difficult task of strengthening economic pressure on Iran while also stabilizing international energy prices.
>Minister Besent’s remarks came right after the United States invited Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov to this year’s G20 finance ministers’ meeting. It is reported that after attending the G20 finance ministers’ meeting on the 31st of last month, Minister Siluanov met separately with Minister Besent to discuss U.S. President Donald Trump’s plans to end the war in Ukraine, among other matters. The Russian Ministry of Finance said that both sides discussed issues such as financial cooperation within the G20, while the U.S. Treasury explained that President Trump’s peace plan for Ukraine was also discussed. However, the specific details of the discussions were not disclosed. This is the first time since the war in Ukraine began in 2022 that a Russian finance minister has attended the G20 finance ministers’ meeting in person. The decision to invite U.S. Secretary Siluainov also drew backlash from some of its allies that had supported Ukraine. President Trump previously explained that the reason for inviting Russia’s finance minister to a G20 meeting held in his own country, amid the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine, was to maintain relations with all countries. Secretary Besente also said, “Unfortunately, in this terrible conflict between Russia and Ukraine, how can it be resolved if the two sides do not engage in dialogue and we do not get involved?” He added, “I know that some European countries have been displeased, but it is very important for the United States to get involved.” Yoo Cheol-jong, Senior Research Fellow ([email protected] )
At this rate, they might even end up supporting Russia if things go well.
I really think that everyone has to be completely shameless on the surface before they can do politics.
Since we have no ability to end the war, it inevitably makes me think that now we’re just blaming others.
Let's call it a wrap.
