> Trump’s MaGa to Invest 13.5 Billion Won in Texas First massive expenditure amid Republican pressure over the lack of backup fire Musk will also inject 5 billion won this week through the super pack

[Edaily reporter Kim Yoon-ji] U.S. President Donald Trump and Tesla CEO Elon Musk are actively pouring money into the U.S. House and Senate elections ahead of the November midterm elections. According to the Financial Times (FT) and others on the 5th (local time), President Trump’s Super PAC (political action committee) MAGA Inc. spent $10 million (about 13.5 billion won) on an ad supporting Republican candidate Ken Paxton, who is running in the Texas federal Senate election. A super PAC is a special political action committee in the United States that raises political funds from corporations, labor unions, individuals, and others to support or defeat a particular candidate. This is the first time this year that the supermarket chain has spent a large sum on the midterm elections. Within the Republican Party, dissatisfaction has been raised that despite the Super PAC having more than $400 million (about 540 billion won) in campaign funds, it is not providing “fire support” to Republican candidates. In response, Republican Senate Majority Leader John Thune and other Republican leaders urged that the Super PAC in question must use the funds to protect the party’s grip on Congress.

> CEO Musk’s super pack, the “America Pack,” also spent $3.7 million (about 5 billion won) this week to support Republican candidates across the United States. According to data from the Federal Election Commission (FEC), the America Pack has spent money on text messages, digital and print advertising, and other communications targeting Michigan, Alaska, Ohio, Iowa, Texas, Maine, and New Hampshire’s Senate races, as well as 12 extremely close presidential races, since the 1st of this month. Just 14 months earlier, CEO Musk had even threatened to found a third-party party to oppose the Republican Party by objecting to President Trump’s massive tax cuts and fiscal spending bill. Afterward, CEO Musk restored his relationship with President Trump. There are also reports that CEO Musk could spend $100 million on this year’s midterm elections. Until before the 2024 presidential election, CEO Musk was not considered a major “big player” in American politics. However, he personally took to the campaign to support then-President Trump and helped America PAC raise more than $260 million (about 350.8 billion won). During the second Trump administration, he led the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and also led federal government spending and workforce reductions. However, after the 2024 presidential election, CEO Musk’s spending on political funds was relatively modest, and some of the candidates he supported even lost. Last year, he poured $23 million (about 31 billion won) into supporting a conservative candidate in the Wisconsin Supreme Court election, but that candidate lost by a 10 percentage point margin. In addition, CEO Musk donated $10 million to a super PAC supporting Nate Morris, who was running for the Kentucky Senate, but Morris ultimately dropped out midway through the primary. I don’t know how long their companionship will continue.

From Musk's standpoint, it is about pursuing his own business interests, Trump is receiving financial assistance from Musk, but, If no special politician emerges from the Democratic Party, It looks like the Republican advantage will continue for a while.
