[Anchor] President Trump downplayed the aftermath of the war in Iran, calling it a “minor matter.” However, U.S. intelligence agencies have released an analysis suggesting that Iran, having grown confident in its military strength, has entered a posture of preparing for a prolonged conflict. Meanwhile, the U.S. administration once again pressured by saying it is still waiting for South Korea to send troops to the Hormuz. Reporter Park Young-jin reports.
[Reporter] President Trump claimed that the war with Iran, which has been ongoing for more than six months, is a “trivial matter.” It goes a step further than Vice President Vance’s argument that the Iran war should not be called a war. As concerns grow over the prolonged war, the Trump administration also made remarks about South Korea’s deployment to the Strait of Hormuz. In response to media inquiries about South Korea’s deployment review, the U.S. administration said, “South Korea is one of the largest customers of Middle Eastern oil,” adding, “We are still waiting for South Korea to deploy resources in the Middle East.” It appears to have put renewed pressure on the South Korean government’s decision to send troops, as President Trump has been calling for the deployment of warships, saying that major oil importers from the Middle East, including South Korea and Japan, must take direct action to secure the safety of the Strait of Hormuz.
