Hacer este cover fue una experiencia casi catártica, un reencuentro con una canción que siempre vive en algún rincón de mi cerebro. No sé por qué vuelve una y otra vez, pero ahí está, susurrándome cada cierto tiempo. Para darle mi propio color, usé dos herramientas que amo: Audacity y BandLab. El proceso fue una locura hermosa.
Empecé traduciendo la letra al inglés. Sentía que esa versión en otro idioma le daba una nueva piel, un misterio distinto, aunque la esencia siguiera siendo la misma: eso de que nada perdura excepto la transformación, y que lo más preciado es amar y ser amado. Con la traducción lista, grabé la pista de voz en BandLab desde mi teléfono. Me encanta su fluidez para hacer maquetas rápidas y ajustar el tono.

Luego vino la magia ruda: Audacity. Ahí le lancé un efecto loquísimo. Me puse a experimentar con los nuevos plugins que incluye la última versión. Usé el «Sliding Time Scale» para estirar y comprimir partes de la voz como si fuera un acordeón emocional. Después le agregué el «Spectral Edit» para distorsionar armónicos específicos, logrando que algunas frases sonaran como recuerdos lejanos. También metí un poco de reverb «GVerb» ajustado al extremo, y un delay asimétrico que hace que las palabras «llega, llega, llega» se tropiecen entre sí, como si el tiempo mismo acelerara, tal como dice la canción.
Y sí, los nuevos efectos de Audacity son una maravilla. Ahí los dejo para quien quiera aventurarse. Pero más allá de lo técnico: esta canción siempre la recuerdo. No sé bien por qué, pero está instalada en mi memoria afectiva. Te invito a escuchar la original también, porque ahí está la semilla de todo. Este cover es solo un reflejo roto, un tatuaje de luz que intenta elevarse. Al final, lo más importante fue sentir que la vida aceleraba mientras la grababa, y entender que amar es el centro, y que el resto… simplemente llega.

Making this cover was an almost cathartic experience, a reunion with a song that always lives somewhere in my brain. I don't know why it keeps coming back over and over, but there it is, whispering to me from time to time. To give it my own color, I used two tools that I love: Audacity and BandLab. The process was a beautiful kind of madness.
I started by translating the lyrics into English. I felt that version in another language gave it a new skin, a different mystery, even though the essence remained the same: that nothing lasts except transformation, and that the most precious thing is to love and to be loved. With the translation ready, I recorded the vocal track on BandLab from my phone. I love how smooth it is for making quick demos and adjusting the pitch.
Then came the raw magic: Audacity. That's where I threw on a totally crazy effect. I started experimenting with the new plugins included in the latest version. I used "Sliding Time Scale" to stretch and compress parts of the voice like an emotional accordion. Then I added "Spectral Edit" to distort specific harmonics, making some phrases sound like distant memories. I also threw in some "GVerb" reverb cranked to the extreme, and an asymmetric delay that makes the words "arrives, arrives, arrives" trip over each other, as if time itself were speeding up, just like the song says.
And yes, the new effects in Audacity are amazing. I leave them here for anyone who wants to take the plunge. But beyond the technical stuff: I always remember this song. I don't really know why, but it's installed in my emotional memory. I invite you to listen to the original too, because that's where the seed of everything lies. This cover is just a broken reflection, a tattoo of light trying to rise. In the end, the most important thing was feeling that life sped up while I was recording it, and understanding that loving is the center, and that the rest… simply arrives.
