Day of Destruction!

My Wednesday Walk was ceremoniously interrupted! It was Canada Day which presented an opportunity to relax in front of an afternoon ball game and a couple beers. Then the warning came in that a summer storm was about to interrupt the 33 Celsius heat wave.
I looked skyward as the trees were starting to dance and saw some angry clouds. A quick trip around the yard to stow anything that might blow away.
Thursday is street workout day for me no matter the weather. Turns out, the morning looked just fine as I struck out to deliver the news first thing. Just 1 small branch off the neighbours tree and I heard him grumbling he wish the whole tree had come down.
On my trip, I began to see that tree damage was not isolated to grumpy pants the neighbour.
Looks like the city has some clearing up to do!
There are quite a few old trees in this small town so I was sure my weekly tour would show me many wild scenes to share.
Tree crews were on the scene early. Plenty to clean up!
The good news is Mater seems safe and sound with his tree friend intact and standing tall.
This heat and the Great Lakes around us sure make for some interesting cloud formations and weather anomalies.
Otherwise, looks like a normal day downtown at the foot of old city hall.
Almost like there wasn’t widespread damage across the little town from atop the steps looking north.
The good news is the damage is not too bad unless you mourn some of the trees that are over a century old. Just an hour without power and 10k steps in the wreckage!
