Inmigrantes y recorridos [Es-En] Immigrants and routes

Published on HivePostify by @felixmarranz · Sat Sep 05 2026

Immigrants and routes

Good morning, fellow community members.

Yesterday, Argentina celebrated Immigrant's Day. This date was established in 1949 to commemorate the decree issued by the First Triumvirate on that same date in 1812, which offered protection to individuals of all nations who wished to establish their residence in the country. The decree specifically mentioned the individual and their family, as well as their desire to work and contribute their knowledge to the development of the nascent Argentina.

As a recent immigrant, there is much I still need to learn about this great country to which I am bound by ties of friendship and gratitude for various reasons, and some forgotten connections documented at the Immigration Museum, located in the port of Buenos Aires, in what was once the immigrants' hotel.

Today, it's a museum and institution that houses the records of 20th-century migrants, where I was able to find a record of a great-uncle's name.

A story of my ancestors, partly lost because, although I understood that my own grandfather had once been to Argentina, I couldn't find his name in the records.

One thing is certain: somewhere in this vast country, I have some distant cousins, but they will be difficult to trace, considering that while reading encyclopedias, I found references to my surname in these lands dating back to the viceroyalty. If memory serves, back when the devil of midday, Philip II, reigned.

Much water has flowed under the bridge since then, but the same spirit remains alive despite the many campaigns to foment hatred towards immigrants. Of course, this is due to the manipulation of public opinion by politicians with dubious motives. Often, this is the reason we decide to leave our country of origin in search of a better future.

When we feel that the present is closing in on us and democracy is failing, voting at the ballot box is useless. We vote with our feet.

I remember a day when we wanted to do more, trying to attract partners to our ecosystem by promoting crypto adoption. It must have had some effect, but I suspect that when the cashback decreased and inflation and devaluation took hold, HBD disappeared.

Even if only until the market recovers.

Discover how the stock and crypto markets move, so my presence here is more about personal connections through reading and writing, without neglecting the podcasts and videos that are proliferating thanks to the increasingly user-friendly new tools and applications.

Greetings, friends. I wish you a pleasant weekend, and for those who don't know Argentina, I remind you that there is much more to discover here.

It's not just mate and tango, barbecue and gauchos. I leave with the image of Carlos Gardel playing guitar on a quiet street, on the way to Chacarita.

I write in Spanish, and for English translations I use Google Translate. The images are my own, unless otherwise indicated.

Thanks for reading, double thanks for comments.
