[Esp-Eng] Exploring and Breathing in Buenos Aires-Argentina 2026

This year, for my birthday, Ru and I decided to take a quick one-week trip to Buenos Aires, one of my favorite cities.
The mix of old and modern architecture makes you feel like you’re in Europe; in my opinion, the architecture is very similar to that of France. Plus, the friendliness of the people is a real bonus—they make you feel right at home.
Este año por mi cumpleaños Ru y yo decidimos hacer un viaje express de una semana por Buenos Aires, una de mis ciudades favoritas.
La mezcla de arquitectura antigua y moderna hacen que te sientas como en europa, la arquitectura es muy parecida a la de Francia en mi opinión. Además, la amabilidad de la gente es un plus, hacen que te sientas en confianza.
We traveled right in the middle of March; the weather was perfect because it wasn’t too hot yet. Coincidentally, it was a holiday that week, and the city was a bit empty, so there wasn’t much traffic.
At first, we had a sort of itinerary, but due to time and distance, we later decided to buy tickets for a 24-hour tour on the Buenos Aires City Bus.
Viajamos exactamente a mediados de marzo, el clima estaba perfecto porque no hacía ya tanto calor, casualmente era feriado esa semana y la ciudad estaba un poco vacía, así que no había mucho tráfico.
Al principio, teníamos una especie de itinerario, pero por el tiempo y la distancia decidimos luego comprar boletos para hacer un tour de 24 horas en el Buenos Aires City Bus.
The first neighborhood we visited was La Boca; there was a game that day, so it was packed with fans everywhere.
Honestly, words can’t do justice to the excitement you feel in the streets seeing so many people gathered for the same reason: to watch Boca Juniors play.
We didn’t have tickets to the game, but we took a walk around the area, visited the famous Caminito, and then went to buy some souvenirs.
I took the opportunity to buy my Boca jersey, because yes, I’m a Xeneize too.
El primer barrio que visitamos fue La Boca, ese día había partido y pues estaba lleno de hinchas por todos lados.
Honestamente, me quedaría corta describiendo la emoción que se siente en las calles de ver a tanta gente reunida por un mismo motivo, ver jugar a Boca Juniors.
No teníamos entrada para el juego, pero nos dimos una vuelta por los alrededores, visitamos el tan famoso Caminito y luego fuimos a comprar algunos souvenires.
Yo aproveché para comprar mi camiseta de Boca, porque sí, también soy Xeneize.
From there, we walked to Puerto Madero; the atmosphere there is different—just as festive and full of tourists, but at the same time more relaxed.
One of the places where we absolutely wanted to take a photo was the Puente de la Mujer, but it was almost impossible that day—it was packed with people.
Still, we had a great time because we were soaking up Buenos Aires.
De ahí, nos fuimos caminando hasta Puerto Madero, ahí el ambiente es diferente, igual de festivo y lleno de turistas pero a la vez más tranquilo.
Uno de los lugares donde si o si queríamos tomar una foto era en el puente de la mujer pero, casi imposible ese día, estaba abarrotado de gente.
Igual, la pasamos genial porque estábamos respirando Buenos Aires.
The next day, we took a stroll through downtown; we wanted to check out Galerías Pacífico and then head to the Obelisk.
We just walked around a bit, took our respective photos, and then headed to the Casa Rosada.
Since it was a national holiday, there were many cultural events taking place in the surrounding area, so the building’s facade was closed off.
Al siguiente día, nos dimos una vuelta por el centro, queríamos conocer galerías pacífico y de ahí irnos hacia el obelisco.
Sólo dimos unas vueltas, tomamos nuestras respectivas fotos y luego fuimos hacia la casa rosada.
Cómo era feriado nacional, había en los alrededores muchos actos culturales así que la fachada del lugar estaba cerrada.
That same day, we came across a Buenos Aires City Bus stop, and well, at first I wasn’t too sure about these buses, but it was a good decision to buy the 24-hour tour.
About $38–$39 per ticket, converted to Argentine pesos—it all depends on the bank’s exchange rate.
This service, while it might be a bit pricey for some tourists, is an excellent option because you can visit the city’s various tourist attractions and landmarks. This particular company has several stops, and the buses usually arrive on time at each station.
We took the 24-hour tour because we were also planning to travel to Uruguay. If you can’t complete the tour on the same day, you can finish it the next day before the time of purchase; you just need to go to the stop closest to your destination and take one of their red buses.
Plus, they explain the history of each place in Spanish and English; you can listen through headphones they give you once you board for the first time.
Ese mismo día, nos encontramos con una estación de Buenos Aires City Bus, y bueno, al principio como que no le tenía mucha fe a estos buses, pero fue una buena decisión comprar el tour de 24 horas.
Unos 38-39 dólares por cada boleto, al cambio de moneda a pesos argentinos, todo depende de la tasa del banco.
Este servicio, aunque pueda resultar un poco costoso para algunos turistas, es una excelente opción porque puedes recorrer los diferentes puntos turísticos y emblemáticos de la ciudad, esta empresa en particular cuenta con varias paradas y los buses suelen llegar a tiempo a cada estación.
Nosotros, hicimos el tour durante 24 horas porque también íbamos a viajar a Uruguay, si no puedes hacer el recorrido el mismo día, puedes terminar al día siguiente antes de la hora de compra, solo debes ir hacia la parada más cercana a tu destino y tomar alguno de sus buses que son color rojo.
Además, te van explicando la historia de cada lugar en español y en inglés, puedes escuchar a través de unos auriculares que te dan una vez que subes por primera vez.
There, I took the opportunity to return to La Bombonera at a more leisurely pace, and we went into the Museo de la Pasión Boquense. Each ticket cost $24. There, you can see all the trophies, learn more about the team’s history, and see the field. If you’re a soccer fan, you’ll love this tour.
Ahí aproveché para volver a la bombonera con más calma y entramos al museo de la Pasión Boquense, cada entrada costó 24 dólares, ahí puedes ver todos los trofeos, conocer más de la historia del equipo y ver la cancha, si eres fanático del fútbol, este recorrido te encantará.
Afterward, we visited the Japanese Garden and the Ecopark, two places where you can relax by walking among the trees and enjoying the scenery.
Admission to the Japanese Garden costs money; it’s cheaper if you’re an Argentine resident or citizen. Since we were foreign tourists, we paid about $17 per ticket.
The place is small, but it’s worth visiting because the grounds are very well maintained, and it feels like being in a little piece of Japan right in the heart of Buenos Aires.
From there, we headed to the Ecopark. Both places are relatively close, so we walked there. That day, they asked for ID at the entrance; we had copies of our passports on our phones, and that was enough to get in for free.
Honestly, I’m not really into visiting these kinds of places because I love animals, but I prefer seeing them in their natural habitat. Luckily, the animals I saw were practically free to roam around the park. It feels very peaceful inside because of all the trees and vegetation, plus it’s very cool and quiet—ideal for visiting with kids.
Después, estuvimos visitando el parque japonés y el ecoparque, dos lugares donde puedes relajarte caminando entre los árboles y disfrutar del paisaje.
Por su parte, la entrada al parque japonés tiene un costo, si eres residente o ciudadano argentino es más barato, nosotros por ser turistas extranjeros pagamos unos 17 dólares por cada entrada.
Es pequeño el lugar, pero vale la pena visitar, porque las instalaciones están muy bien cuidadas y es como estar en un pedacito de Japón dentro de Buenos Aires.
De ahí, nos fuimos hasta el ecoparque, ambos lugares están relativamente cerca, así que nos fuimos caminando, ese día en la entrada nos pidieron identificación, teníamos una copia de los pasaportes en el teléfono y ya con eso entras gratis.
Sinceramente, no soy visitar este tipo de lugares porque me encantan los animales, pero verlos en su habitad natural pero, por suerte los animales que vi, están prácticamente libres caminando por el lugar, se siente mucha paz aquí adentro por la cantidad de árboles y vegetación, además de ser muy fresco y tranquilo, ideal para ir con niños.
